And yes, I think that simulations will fall through, if the person inside is intelligent enough and has a drive to see the world around for what it is. Not everyone does, after all. I understand your point though: the thought experiment states it is perfect. I was only pointing out that I think that is not possible, not with all the technology that can possibly exist. The only thing that can make it appear real is multiple people in it: they will have original and unexpected reactions, after all.
Arjen, you are in a simulation. That is why there is the constantly recurring theme of the CCP. The lack of originality in that is the giveaway, which you yourself point out as the defining characteristic of a simulation. And that is why you feel that the news is being manipulated. Everything you experience is being manipulated.

Sweet dreams!
Unfirtunately, the reason for that is the fact that the CCP is conspiring everywhere. The propaganda and censorship serve a purpose, after all.

It is working. You don't believe you are in a simulation.

The reason for that is that I never knew anything about the CCP, but the more I learn, the more I see. Irmt not coming from my expectations makes your premiss an untrue one. It made me chuckle though.

It just shows how good the simulation is, that you are unwilling to accept that it is real.

If only that were true. Then the Tibetans and Uyghur would not be in concentration camps or infertilised. Nor be put to slave labour. Plus, then I would not see the same totalitarian working in the entire world. It is done mainly by media manipulation, but also by corruption of institutions and high ranking officials. Bribes, extortians and threats are used. Those actions are then covered up by the media.

Your optimism is unwarranted. If you are in a simulation, worse things may be happening in the real world than you ever imagined.

Unfortunately, they are. Imagine the other side of the power coin being almost in a civil war with false accusation of institutionalised racism and real, but censored power control by mean of extortion over pedophelia....

Venting that fake setup might easily be used to impeach Biden and get Harris in charge. Lack of support could collapse the States further. Given that Harris will lack the support and the exoerience to constructively lead a democracy and given that both BLM and qanon want (white) elites dead and that just this is the premiss of communism makes me worry more about the Chinese liberation army prepping for war. Tge people of tbe USA might need liberating.

You are definitely not living in this world. You might want to read up on Trump's relationship with Epstein.
And yet if you talk to Donald Trump, a different Epstein emerges. “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump booms from a speakerphone. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

You can also find video of the two together being very chummy. Here is a sample:
