What is Beauty in Reference to Reproduction?

Post by Etherman50 »

There are aesthetics when it comes to the soul of man-and beauty that appeals on a more purely genetic level. Here are some of the principles of attraction-some beauty related, some not: 1) Similarity: Likes tend to attract likes-simple as that. 2) Complementarity: This is an often complex and bizarre one-but also very relevant. People tend to be attracted to what they lack in themselves. 3) Evocative of Compassion/Pity: Does this person/object evoke pity-or compassion in you? 4) Perceived Trustworthiness: Is this person trustworthy and or loyal? 5) Perceived Willingness to Suffer: This is inherent in all human relationships at some underlying level. 6) Face: Does this persons face make you feel positive about the person and yourself-or negatively? Some faces evoke negative stereotypes-and some evoke more positive ones(genetically driven-but some cultural elements also). 7) Status: People tend to like people of their level-or a little higher in women, particularly. 8) Chemistry: Based upon the males feelings toward the female-and possible genetic similarity,or scent. MR Any others I may have missed? Questions?

Beauty is reference to reproduction usually tends to account for the features you would like your offspring to have. On a primal level this would mean features needed to survive, however humankind has developed so that you would like your offspring to have features needed to reproduce for themselves... Meaning your second point would be correct, if they lack something they would wish for their partner to have it so there is a higher probability that their children may have it e.g. If someone has a big nose they may subconciously want a partner with a small nose so their offspring have more chance of having a smaller nose, making them more 'attractive'.

Irrelevant. You don't need to be beautiful to reproduce. Beauty is a luxury.

Hormones! meaning were "forced" to consider ourselves beautiful...in the ideal at least which has not always had the same parameters through the ages.

Beauty in relation to reproduction is determined by an individual through sexual behavior, first of them and most important being a kiss. A kiss, the chemistry ( literally) of it can tell a woman, for example, if with this particular male she will have a healthy offspring. If yes,if she likes the kiss, she becomes attracted to him. If not, he's out. He might find chemistry , though, with another female. Another benefit of beauty is that beautiful individuals are usually from less inbred populations, or genetic lines, which, again, creates healthier offspring. Third reason to find someone sexually attractive, beautiful in the eyes of the partner, is belonging to opposite, or far removed ethnics or races. This is nature's way to mix genetics and create less mutations for healthier descendants. The sexual or hormonal aroma of such persons for each other is a lot more strong and pleasant, then for individuals of the same rase or close knit ethnicity. Partners that are close by blood, experience a lot less attraction towards each other, such couples are usually examples of sexual coldness. In this light, the smell of tobacco or alcohol, strong spices or mints, etc. can distort the said chemistry and unite a misfit couple or strip of true joy the nature's favorite pairing. Before a date, do not scrub yourself to death, or your sexiness will be of that of a brother or sister. Yak!
