What do you think about rap?
Do you know they are both dead?

The placement of these questions in the Art section indicates that your interest is aesthetic rather than cultural. I think hip hop, especially, and rap fit nicely into the commodious and deathless category of jazz. Foecasting any termination of a jazz form to a jazz buff is an endangerment of YOUR life!
Just in case your interest is really socio-cultural (Is there such a word?): Hip hop's and rap's first manifestations were as Afro-American protests and this is still evident to a large extent. The music's role in a significant cultural development makes it part of our nation's permanent history.
