The only non-English music I ever really listened to I think was Brazilian Bosa Nova primarily, and a little bit of Spanish speaking songs from out of Mexico (more pop) and maybe a little rap out of Puerto Rico. Oh... and Shakira.

But that makes sense. If one is not normally exposed to something, there's no reason to think one should be familar with it. The only reason got into J-Pop & K-Pop is because I lived in San Francisco for 10 years and had many Japanese, Korean, Lao, and Chinese friends.Supine wrote:I had no idea such a thing called K-Pop or Korean Pop existed. Shows how cosmopolitan I am when it comes to music
In any case, here's more songs that I find philosophically inspirational:
Nova (Shine Your Light) -- VNV Nation

Answers -- Namnambulu

You're The Answer -- Iris

I suppose it depends on what stage of life I am in, as to what songs/music inspires me philosophically. Currently:
Misguided Ghosts, Paramore (We endlessly search for what we think we want... & life is short, almost like a dream.) With Or Without You, U2 (So many paradoxes... Especially regarding illusions - we need them, but they can be a source of pain.) I Want To Live, John Denver (Life needs to be respected more than it is.) A couple with no lyrics... but still plenty to express! Beethoven's 9th Shindler's List Theme

Songs by Nick Drake - Specifically Pink Moon, Things behind the sun, Day is done, Time has told me and River man
Most songs by Keane - some good ones are Bad dream, Love is the end, Frog Prince and Particularly one called Atlantic which has this lyric 'I need a place that's hidden in the deep, where lonely angels sing you to your sleep, Though all the word is broken
Seasick Steve - Fallen off a rock
The National - Conversation 16, Fake Empire, England, Mistaken for strangers
And also a song called On days like these by Matt Monroe. I think it was the title song to the film The Italian Job.

Not since Pink Floyd's - Dark Side of the Moon, has such originality been achieved on one record. This record creates a whole new category of music that has never been heard before. They use sampling like sampling has never been used before.
