Spectroscopy is a compound word of spectrum and scope.
- A spectrum is 'used to classify something, or suggest that it can be classified, in terms of its position on a scale between two extreme or opposite points.' And scope means 'to see'.
- Some spectrums I have in mind are:
1. Temporal: Past to Present
2. Dimensional-Scale: Micro to Macro
3. Perceptual: Objective to Subjective
- If analyzing an apple, for example:
- 1. Temporal: I can consider how sun, water, and nutrients came together to produce the thing which eventually falls to the ground, is eaten, and becomes absorbed by the body.
2. Dimensional-Scale: I can consider the apple as a whole and investigate down into its parts, breaking it apart into atoms and so on.
3. Perceptual: I can consider the object out there in the world which is perceived by me and compare how it appears to me and how it may actually exist in contrast to how I perceive it.
- 1. Temporal: I can consider how sun, water, and nutrients came together to produce the thing which eventually falls to the ground, is eaten, and becomes absorbed by the body.

Can you think of any other scopes, scales, or dimensions of existence? In what other spectrums do objects exist? Are there any, or is this just a product of the mind's analysis?
