Unfortunately, experiences do not come with an explanatory theory. We as thinking agents have to interpret our experiences, identify causal agents and mechanisms, establish strong or weak correlations between cause and effect and overcome our instinctive biases and heuristics with a more rational explanation on what that experience was exactly.
There are pretty simple experiences that help us as kids to form a comprehensive model of reality (fire-burn, wall-crash our skulls, height-fall etc) and there are more complex experiences that need a deeper evaluation by excluding superstitious explanations and hasty decisions based on unjustified heuristics.
So experience is the foundation on how we get to understand our world, but we have found that there are good and bad ways to interpret those experiences...and to truth the good interpretations and reject the bad ones. As with all things in life, its a spectrum not an arbitrary rule on what we get to trust or not.
The main quality that renders our interpretations good is OBJECTIVE and Independent verification. ITs the central quality in our Scientific Evaluations responsible for...the run away success of science in Epistemology and technological advances.

They can hold their hand over an open flame, check heights and their flying abilities, try eating rocks, sticking nails in wall sockets etc.
By reproducing those tests and comparing them with other members of their family they can produce a reliable conclusion for (at least) basic past experiences and trust.

Hi znajd, znajd wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 6:27 pm If the only reason to use past experience (memories/knowledge) for making decisions as to what to do, is because that experience shows me it worked most of the time and that it's the only thing I have for that, then does it really mean I have to use it for making decisions?
And if yes, is there any other way of saying this, other than "I have to trust past experience because past experience tells me that"?
Experience is knowledge, knowledge is experience, one uses knowledge experience belief to my into the future.
