Well folks in Asia don't primarily speak English so I'm not sure they know or care about what English word is used to describe them, between the two. I was referring to Asian Americans.
As to the term Oriental, which means "east" or "eastern", if you think about it the continent of Asia is towards the east when viewed from Europe, thus is considered Euro centric. The term Asian is, obviously Asia centric.
