None of us aims to be cruel? In the USA, they separate families of refugees and put their children in cages. When you say that none of us aims to be cruel, please give an account of whom it is that you consider as not part of us. Charles NG? So the aim of us all must be how best to lessen the cruelty. The appropriate discipline is social psychology. Social psychologists are experts in how people influence each other.
I would say that veganism is best applied with consideration for animal welfare but since most people start off by rejecting veganism, I don't get it how you can say that the aim of all of us must be how to best lessen cruelty. That aim sounds to me like a vegan aim and not everyone's aim.
Focusing on minimizing cruelty must start not by calling social psychologist experts but by questioning whether or not you need to take part in the cruelty, and that's the vegan question. The cruelty involved in not taking an animal tested vaccine (increasing your chances and that of those around you to get sick) must be measured against the cruelty involved in taking the animal tested product. I think the worst cruelty isn't necessarily the one that creates the most significant amount of pain, but rather the one that is brought on by the most depraved characters, and having deadly tests performed on others in an effort to learn more about how your own self might react to the tests sounds quite morally depraved to me. The high ground belongs to those who will not tolerate such thing (by rejecting the animal tested product) even if it involves pain and suffering to one's self and community. A depraved community is not worth trying to save, and the efforts of vegan opportunists to stand up together with the cruel community and the vaccine does divides vegans. The community would be better off if it learned it has to began to kill and persecute all vegans too to save itself. I guess the vegan opportunists' talk help vegans in general to avoid this problem but I am uncertain we really want to avoid this. We are willing to stand by our position because it is the right thing to do. We are endangered by a depraved community in many other ways. Now is the time to make a stand.
In past pandemics, they didn't understand how it was spreading and started to kill off their cats and dogs, thinking it was their fault but in fact, it was the rats' fleas that spread it and with no cats or dogs to chase them around the situation would only get worse. A similar stupidity is happening in this pandemic, except that little will be learned from it.
