A recent study showed that almost 90% of all seabirds have plastic pollution in their bodies. In the past decades, 67 percent of all seabirds have died. Many seabird species could become extinct in the coming decades.

The plastic pollution in the ocean is estimated to kill millions of seabirds and more than 100,000 animals each year, and the toxins also affect reproduction and animal welfare.

In some areas larger than land continents, there is 6x more plastic in the water compared to plankton. There are zones in the ocean that are called 'death zone' where no fish can live.

When a Dutch fortune 500 company does it with ease, as is evident from the internal communication by the CEO of Trafigura BV – “Beyond Dover, and certainly not in the Baltic Sea.” – it may happen much more often than is known.

Poison may not be visible using satellites when it merges with the water.

The poison that was dumped by Trafigura BV was a by-product of a process to increase the value of petrol, which is done at open sea.

The poison was such severely toxic that the city of Amsterdam denied to process it. People around the harbour had been complaining of health issues when the tanker was docked there, merely due to the air pollution that the poison caused by being docked there.

Since there is a considerable profit motive to create such poison, and since processing is difficult and costly, it may be dumped in the ocean much more often than expected.

Rabobank, the top financing partner of Trafigura BV, adapted the slogan “Growing a better world together” and presents itself as an environmentally friendly bank. In 2017, the bank received a “Green Bond Award”.

It doesn't necessarily have to be deliberate in order to happen. Just walk along a beach and look at the number of plastic bottles left behind by sunbathers. More generally, if garbage doesn't find its way into landfill or recycling, gravity is going to eventually, one way or another, take it downhill. Oceans are downhill.

When Trafigura BV, a fortune 500 company (rank 31 with $180 billion USD revenue) from Netherlands + UK does it intentionally 'with ease', then that may indicate that it happens more often than expected.

The CEO of Trafigura sent an email on 5 July 2006 at 07:47 in which he warned not to discharge the poison into the Baltic Sea, 'because this is a special area and certainly not between Dover and the Baltic Sea. The discharge may not take place until Dover has passed, on the way to Lomé (Nigeria)'.

E-mail correspondence between Trafigura CEO and employees of the company further indicated that they knew that the transport of the toxic waste from the EU to other countries was prohibited. The company also allegedly issued a false invoice to disguise that Trafigura had underpaid in Côte d'Ivoire, making it clear that the waste had not been handled responsibly.

What does it imply when a CEO of a $180 billion USD company has the intention to dump toxic waste in the ocean when it concerns toxic waste that was such severely toxic that it was denied for processing at the port in Amsterdam? People around the harbour in Amsterdam had been complaining of health issues due to the air pollution caused by the toxic waste.

According to a source, Amsterdam officials were involved in the illegal transhipment of the heavily poisoned toxic waste by Trafigura BV and in the departure of the tanker Probo Koala from the port of Amsterdam. The company Amsterdam Port Services (APS) has previously been the target of criminal investigations for involvement in toxic waste offences.

The toxic waste was a by-product of a process that made gasoline worth more money. That process produces a lot of toxic and strongly smelly waste. Since there is a profit incentive to create such poison and processing is difficult and costly, paired with the fact that the process is done at open sea, it may be dumped in the ocean more often than expected.

At question would be: how often is it done (in 2021)?

The fact that whale meat from Norway is to polluted as of today to be accepted in Japan, and the fact that whale babies are washing ashore full of deadly levels of chemicals, is also an indication that toxic waste pollution is accumulating in the oceans to such an extent that individual whales are not even able to be born healthy.
