Re: I Hate Gays
You are not sick, wicked or wrong, just a minority. Not being in a majority is not an illness. Numerous gay people have led good lives, some of outstanding achievement and contribution.
Nothing in nature is the same - not height, colour, weight, athletic ability, intellectual capacity, gender, sexuality. There is natural variation in all of these areas and more. This is elementary knowledge that has somehow escaped the flat-Earthers of sexuality who are locked into the strictures of Middle Eastern ancients, failing to keep up with the findings of the last century.

I have personally seen frogs enjoying same sex behaviour.
Your mind is closed by cultural assumptions of very recent origin. Homosexuality has been accepted by many cultures though the ages.
Are you gay?"

I disagree. The buck stops with whomever breaks the chain. People like to think their dislike or hatred is a righteous one, no matter the subject, and they will use all manner of rationalization to justify it.Sculptor1 wrote: ↑May 18th, 2019, 1:50 pmNo the buck stops with your original statement which is prejudiced.Spiral Out wrote: ↑June 30th, 2013, 7:10 am If I went about stating that I didn't care for gays, their displays of selfishness or what they were doing to society in the unnecessary trouble and conflict that they are creating then I would be promptly labelled a homophobe by most people that I expressed that opinion to.
So then along would come other people to quickly condemn me for my views and they would probably say they didn't like me, my display of selfishness or what I was doing to society in the unnecessary trouble and conflict that I was creating.
So it just becomes an intolerance of intolerance and a homophobophobia of a homophobia, and it just gets passed down in turn.
Since you do not, and cannot know ALL homosexuals; indeed you may like many that you do not know are gay right now, your statement "I hate Gays" is fallacious, or at best simple ignorance and prejudice.
When the rejoinder that condemns you for your statement is made, the case is not a general one but a specific one directly at you and your statement.
You do not get to hind behind your intolerance by pretending that there is an equivalence here: there is not.
Hate the haters. Kill the killers.
I'm sure you have read my post in its entirety and understand that this is purely a philosophical exercise.

Re: I Hate Gays
Well, think you are trying to make this a pot and kettle thing (which it can be on occasion) when it is most commonly not. Let me explain. Say someone hates gays, not merely personally not gay or neutral or uninterested in gays, but hates gays, and therefore spouts anti-gay conversation. It is completely reasonable for another who doesn't see the logic for the hatred, to verbally disagree with the first person and perhaps go off on that person. However, in most cases the second commenter doesn't hate the first person, they clearly disagree with them (perhaps vehemently) but disagreement is very common and doesn't need separate justification. Now couldn't some anti-gay folks not hate gays and merely disagree with the lifestyle? Of course. I am not addressing that situation, I stipulated that the original person hated first and commented afterwards (which is not an unusual situation in this area).Spiral Out wrote: ↑October 11th, 2019, 7:47 amI disagree. SInce you wrote is in 2013, and I responded in May of this year, I don't think I care to spend much time on it.Spiral Out wrote: ↑October 11th, 2019, 7:47 amI disagree. But I see I accused you of dodging, and here again you try to dodge again. A pattern seems to be emerging.

Re: I Hate Gays
I hate people who complain about well-trained dogs being off the leash. Should I start a thread about it? If so, I'd expect to be swamped by people complaining about the terrible dangers of our little furry friends. If they had a problem with my replies then I could complain about lynch mobs "hating the haters".
At this point it would be game on.
Irresponsible!
Control-freak!
Dangerous!
Snowflake!
Self-indulgent!
Busybody!
Hater!
Hater of haters!
Broken laws!
Witch hunt!
While this game is proving to be potent in politics, forums often feature this kind of circular gaming. They play again and again, without recognition of prior iterations and the circularity, or that their words are no longer related to their case. There is another pastime, more usually conducted in private, that also involves repetitive push and pulling.
Just saying, no judging. Such private activities have no doubt been enjoyed by countless mammals over millions of years. The pushing and pulling is, in fact, a reflection of society itself trying to balance difference considerations - freedom and order, independence and power, etc.
