Is Christianity Destined to Become a Form of Deism?

Discuss philosophical questions regarding theism (and atheism), and discuss religion as it relates to philosophy. This includes any philosophical discussions that happen to be about god, gods, or a 'higher power' or the belief of them. This also generally includes philosophical topics about organized or ritualistic mysticism or about organized, common or ritualistic beliefs in the existence of supernatural phenomenon.

Behe might well understand the NT, but such an understanding would necessitate a clear distinction between Christianity and Deism.

You're going to have to spell it out. What makes you think Behe doesn't understand the New Testament?
I am saying that he cannot claim to be a Christian and a Deist at the same time.
What do you think "Christ"-ian implies? How can a Deity who left the universe to cruise at the beginning of time without further intervention "annoint" a king or "messiah"?
How can an non-interventionist god have created a religion?
Behe is not claiming to be a Christian and a Deist. Behe is a Christian who believes in a God who intervenes.

Then what is the point of evolution?
Since this is a system that requires no intervention?

As I understand it, Behe suggests that evolution itself requires intervention- because irreducible complexity.

I think I've heard enough at Behe.

I always find it puzzling that people waste so much time and effort trying to cling to useless ideas.

I have a small correction to an earlier statement
Michael Behe, a Christian who accepts evolution
Michael Behe, a Christian who does not accept evolution.
Unknown means unknown.

It sure looks to me like he does. He accepts that all life has a common ancestry- that all life evolved from single-celled life that lived billions of years ago.

Let me try to give an example. I believe in the germ theory of disease. I wrap up warm so as not to get a cold.

I don't know really. Always tempted to say stupidity but people are quite surprising and I try not to underestimate (not always successfully). Maybe an example of pedantry. Or trolling. Or general cantankerousness. Who knows really, the end result is the same so I try not to get hung up on such things.
