God is dying. Will he be dead?

Discuss philosophical questions regarding theism (and atheism), and discuss religion as it relates to philosophy. This includes any philosophical discussions that happen to be about god, gods, or a 'higher power' or the belief of them. This also generally includes philosophical topics about organized or ritualistic mysticism or about organized, common or ritualistic beliefs in the existence of supernatural phenomenon.

Says the person who doesn’t believe he/she exists to even post a comment.Hilarious.

Just because you are trapped in unawareness reasoning utter nonsense in your false non existent state passing your opinions doesn’t mean everyone is trapped in this dualistic reasonings “prisoner of consciousness” state.

You don’t understand consciousness and your relationship to it.

God is not dying, nor will he ever be dead, except for those who wish it were so.

As to why they wish it were so, they have to look inside themselves to find out.

More often than not, using scripture from a certain religion to directly support a claim is a sign that the topic is not philosophical. For example, posting that "god exists because it says so in my bible" or "it is sinful to do X because it says so in my religious text" are religious arguments not philosophical ones.

What substantiated claims are you bringing to the table Sy Borg? Please share them.

Joshua10 wrote: October 22nd, 2022, 9:43 am One either has control over the consciousness states or the I am doesn’t.You are hardly going to take control of if you don’t even believe that you exist. How you think you have an opinion if you don’t exist is beyond me.

Control is relative, it's not all or nothing. When you wrote the above you were in control because you decided to concentrate, in this case,on a metaphysical problem. The experience of focusing on a metaphysical problem is real and undeniable. What is not certain is that the experience pertained to Joshua. This is because there is no way to discover self among all the experiences; you simply presume there is a self.

The police identify third parties by personal documentation, dental records, finger prints. and DNA.I think they can get computers to recognise faces and irises too.

Personal first person identity, specifically the intuition you are a unique self , is what we are talking about. Intuitions are not enough. What you know for sure is there is an opinion. You may intuit the opinion is yours but you can't be sure of that.

If God exists He is much 'larger' than self. He is absolute experience. That's what omniscient means.
Limited experience exists therefore absolute experience must exist. Therefor God exists.
