What do you think is the nature of God? (Theists only)

Discuss philosophical questions regarding theism (and atheism), and discuss religion as it relates to philosophy. This includes any philosophical discussions that happen to be about god, gods, or a 'higher power' or the belief of them. This also generally includes philosophical topics about organized or ritualistic mysticism or about organized, common or ritualistic beliefs in the existence of supernatural phenomenon.

Are you disappointed or annoyed that so many people who, at first glance, aren't obviously theists have chimed in? Do you think that was inevitable?

If you can find a way of separating omniscience from predetermination, I am all ears.
Inform me of how you define the words 'omniscience' and 'predetermination' and I will see if I can explain how they are separate.

To me they are already separate, but I must be using different definitions than you are.

Most people are very confused with what I say.
LuckyR wrote: May 7th, 2020, 4:10 pmDo you consider omniscience to be True? Considering that no one has "seen" it before?
I will await for your definition first, before I answer this question.
LuckyR wrote: May 7th, 2020, 4:10 pmOmnipotence is irrelevant to me specifically, since it has never been observed nor demonstrated.
But I 'see' It every day in action.
LuckyR wrote: May 7th, 2020, 4:10 pmIn the spirit of generosity, since you are a proponent of omnipotence, I'll let you define it any way you want. I am interested in broadening, not limiting your options.
Okay.

By the way, I let you define absolutely any word in absolutely any way you like, at absolutely anytime you like.

I give you the freedom and the free will to make this choice. But remember your choices are limited by predetermined factors.
By your own admission you start by making claims, but when pressed answer nothing, then hide behind the smokescreen of using personal definitions of common terms to suit your original general statements.

I don't personally find trying to nail Jell-O to the wall of interest. Have a nice day.

By your own admission you start by making claims,
And what exactly do you propose those claims were exactly?
LuckyR wrote: May 8th, 2020, 9:56 am but when pressed answer nothing, then hide behind the smokescreen of using personal definitions of common terms to suit your original general statements.
Did you forget that it was YOU who provided absolutely NOTHING when asked [pressed] to define the two words that you wanted me to show you how could be separated.

I also NEVER, contrary to your claim, "hid behind some smokescreen of using personal definitions of common terms to suit my original general statements" at all.

You are more than a 'little confused'. You appear absolutely completely confused here now.
LuckyR wrote: May 8th, 2020, 9:56 am I don't personally find trying to nail Jell-O to the wall of interest. Have a nice day.
Once again, ANOTHER ONE who is not capable of defining the words they use. This is because they actually do not know what they are talking about or cannot substantiate their claims.

Now you asked;
"If you can find a way of separating omniscience from predetermination, I am all ears."

This is easy, 'omniscience' refers to all-knowledge, and, 'predetermination' refers to established or decided in advance. So, finding a way of separating these obviously two very distinctly different terms, used for two obviously very separate different things, can be done by just opening a dictionary.

You then said that you were "a little confused", which is fair enough.

Then you asked;
"Do you consider omniscience to be True?

To me, 'omniscience' is neither true nor false. 'Omniscience' just refers to all-knowledge, which obviously exists.
