Re: Are we all born an Atheist?
This could be more or less true, but in what sense a non-theist is not the same as an atheist? If a non-theist remains the same since he was born and after a few years gets to meet an atheist, what will be the difference between them? I don't see any difference. So it would make more sense to think that we are born an atheist or non-theist and then taught to be a theist.phenomenal_graffiti wrote: ↑January 25th, 2020, 4:48 pm We are born non-theist, then taught to be either theist or atheist.

I have the same question as Lucantor.phenomenal_graffiti wrote: ↑January 25th, 2020, 4:48 pm We are born non-theist, then taught to be either theist or atheist. Agnosticism is usually a freely chosen conclusion, typically made in adulthood, by someone who is undecided and unwilling to settle one way or the other.
Atheism is not something taught, since it does not require any belief.
Agnosticism is a subset of atheist.
Antitheist is too.
But atheist is exactly the same as non-theist in a literal sense.

When I finally learned something about religion, which didn't happen until I was in my mid teens, I literally thought it was a big practical joke. I couldn't parse that people would actually believe stuff that seemed so bonkers to me.
