Are we all born an Atheist?

Discuss philosophical questions regarding theism (and atheism), and discuss religion as it relates to philosophy. This includes any philosophical discussions that happen to be about god, gods, or a 'higher power' or the belief of them. This also generally includes philosophical topics about organized or ritualistic mysticism or about organized, common or ritualistic beliefs in the existence of supernatural phenomenon.

Obviously all thoughts are caused by chemicals. .
You are giving me philosophical materialism. I have argued against that at length elsewhere and It is too big of a topic to go into now. Basically, I think materialism is just another example of dark magic. It historically came out of nineteenth century Gothic Romanticism It you're into that then go for it. It's too much womb and tomb for me.

We're born indifferent not even aware that there's a problem until one way or another, perhaps without being aware of it, we're forced to decide which side we're on. The best way to think on the subject is not to think about it at all knowing for certain its a waste of energy and not worth the effort.
You're coming across as an anti-intellectualist, which I'm sure you are not. What do you think IS worth the effort of thinking about?

Please don't talk dirty at me - I will not tolerate all those nasty -ism words

I am simply providing a perspective on phenomena that I find enchanting and fascinating. If you don't share that view it's your loss.

If you want to delve deeper, consider how why chemicals carry these different characteristics.

Sorry about the _isms. I'll try to write more about jism and jimjam. I took chemistry in college but I hated the smell of it and I kept breaking things, so I left it. I did, however, enjoy tinker toys when I was a little kid and that part of chemistry is fun. As for materialism as a philosophy, the idea that thought and consciousness arise magically out of low-level ionization of gray matter is like swamp gas rising up on a dark night. It's creepy. I know that creepiness is popular in the movies, but I never much liked all that. And I also don't like the idea of the Matrix, the Great Mother. This idea of life and mind rising, emerging out of heaving mothers of matter is just modern mythology. As for you having that perspective on phenomena, I don't care. We all have our perspectives.

I'm curious. What delusion about homosexuality are you referring to.

An apatheist is someone who is not interested in accepting or rejecting any claims that gods exist or do not exist. For the newborn apatheist, the existence of God is not rejected, but is deemed irrelevant due to a fierce preference for sticking one's infant face into big, warm and milky balloons.
Children are born personifiers. They personify stuff, and not just stuff modern, non-panspsychists consider conscious. Of course the wee ones fresh from the womb are just warming this process up, personifying mom and dad and moving from there and not thinking words like 'god'. But even without outside influence they will see sentience and intention and emotion all over the place.

I don't know who the "you" is that you mentioned, but I think it is a match made in heaven. Literally.

He's not the guy who said homosexual sex is unnatural, so the first part of that sentence should be utterly clear. Then he's positive about anal sex, presumably from his own experience of it.

That which offers interest for investment. Not much to be had from an empty god account! From this you may conclude that I'm really more anti-intellectual!

Yes, I am not that guy, but I might say that anal sex is unnatural. Hang on, I’m going to talk metaphysics. I did say that it was a match made in heaven, which makes it supernatural. I guess the supernatural is also the unnatural. In the natural world everything has a function and a purpose. Everything works for the preservation of the individual, the species, the selfish gene or whatever. That seems to be the current idea in evolution theory. In the natural world you are trapped. You have to go along. A dark spirit calls you. You must pro-create. That is the vision of Naturphilosophie and the Hegelian Spirit. My supernaturalism is a rebellion against all that. If you want, if you’re in rut, you can go stick your genes in the dark hole of Nature, but I’m outta here.

Anal sex is gloriously without purpose. It is contemplative. (I do have experience with that.) It is worship of visible Form, not the hidden urges. I am a supernaturalist all the way. Now if you are itchin’ to say “Gibberish”, go for it.

When you say "investment" I presume you mean "investiture". Presumably, you are a priest in the dark hole of the empty god (or goddess). Call in the accountants!! Holy Writ!!

Okay - my error.

As for anal sex being "unnatural" its irrelevant . Blow jobs are might seem without purpose too, but I not be happy to live without mine.
Anal sex, blow jobs, and even wanking - are all very purposeful indeed. Since when was sex just about getting pregnant anyway?
Bonobos and humans love to do it. I love to do it. I'm just through doing it, and I'm ready to do it again. I have one child. God only knows how many times I've had sex.
I'm no fan of anal, but a hole is a hole.

No! I mean return on investment. Nothing to do with investiture! Arguably I don't like wasting time on empty set concepts which yields nothing upon examination.
