A new vision of peace (for me, anyways)

Post by Celebration2000 »

Well this just came to me a few moments ago, so i'm putting it up so it doesn't become forgotten, and so possibly it can be improved.

What if the world were ruled by one government (yeah yeah new world order, fascism, w/e). But this government would provide everything for it's citizens, so long as they work. It would be a mix of capitalism and socialism. You work, and your work effort gets logged and you are able to recieve your necessities. But you also make money on the side, so you can buy the luxuries you want.

Obviously, this state would require highly efficient methods of production, distribution, and communication.

It would either be secular, or a single religion. Racism and other forms of discrimation are punished severely.

Street drugs, drugs like crack/cocaine, heroine, meth. etc. are priorites, since the users get addicted and spend there money on it, and not work, but instead steal and rob.

Everyone recieves what they NEED, so as to reduce the probability that they will exert force on others to get what they want.

The government will have several councils, and no "leader", only groups of leaders, as to reduce the amount of power in each of the politicians hands, and reduce the possibility of corruption. Corporations are government-run (to prevent corporations to pay off the government and politicians). Referendums are held for almost every decision by the government.

I can't think of anything else about it right now, which is why i put it up. So that we can hopefully build upon this idea and improve it so that one day it possibly *might* become reality.

( Althought I wouldn't oppose to a global, fascist government, so long as i'm the leader :P hah)

World domination has been tried and failed. Rome, Britain, USA.

It's not necessary to have world domination before you ameliorate the painful excesses of capitalism with a measure of socialism.

We have some similar ideas...

I think there should be total democracy...via the Internet laws can be submitted and reviewed and debated, but the votes would have to be done on paper, at post offices (to avoid large scale voter fraud)

there should be no money at all, if you work you get what you need: food, shelter, clothing, education health care, public transportation.

If one wants luxury items they must make them or trade for them. (now they are definitely worth some thing).

Racism though it is bad cannot be punished, its just a belief, but if a crime is committed they should be punished. As for religion a free religion state would be best.

People should be free to use drugs like fools just don't expect everybody to help you out if you are a user.

government run corporations is not the answer, people being well informed consumers is the answer. But better still would be community self sufficiency but trade will be encouraged, and needed at times.

Waste will be non existent every thing will be recycled, I don't mean just melting it down and re shaping it, but using the same thing for many uses, and many different uses (simply refilling a coke bottle with coke would use much less energy)

all food and power will and must be green as we will use all feces as fertilizer. when we add man made chemicals to the recycling cycle they either change chemically and/or are not safe to consume

lastly people must be willing to move around from time to time to find work, or be willing to work in jobs they don't like. People cant sue for hot coffee spilling on their lap for example not that there would be a rule against it but that it would simply be a laughable circumstance

people cant be lazy in the perfect society, and they must be individually accountable and responsible...

but as perfect as this may be, there will still not be peace. there will always be violent disagreements (war) hopefully there scale will be reduced.

ok i have abandonned my previous idea.
my new idea is more of a totalitarian state with me as its leader.
since i live in canada i will state some of my goals:
-first and foremost : obtain a majority government
-mix the position of governor general into prime minister
-nationalize all industries (generates money)
-legalize marijuana (tax it heavily, need a license to sell, licenses are costly, heavy fines for selling without a license, possible imprisonment)
-life in prison is worse and adjusted to be less costly: criminals go there for a reason
-abolish the senate

These are just some goals, and no i am not wise in the ways of canadian politics so i would not know how to go about these things if ever i did become ruler of canada (lol!)

while on surface level these may seem to be good ideas, I promise, if it does turn out well, it wont be good for long(50 years). things may even get MUCH worse after the fact.

your plan has one answer for every thing ultimately. I don't know exactly what that is, to put it to name but...the lack of diversity, inherent in at least historical applications of totalitarianism means that if one part fails all parts fail. all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

it may turn out well if you relinquish power to the right people or I suppose, person...

I doubt you could have peace without freedom, namely because the unfree people would fight for their freedom and the rulers would use violence to obtain, keep and further their infringements upon the freedom of the unfree people.

Also, I believe that the fact that power corrupts makes a benevolent totalitarian government impossible.
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

i think the best example of a benevolent dictator would be Augustus Caesar. He cut back on spending and gave the difference to citizens. He restored many temples and established police and firefighting institutions. He truly cared about his own people

Your irony is very amusing, but possibly too subtle for some people to pick up on.

Unfortunately, supplying everyone with everything they need doesn't breed the sort of drive for excellence required for highly efficient organisations or processes.

Further, "need" is a very flexible term, and highly prone to inflation. Cars were once luxuries, and now they are necessities. Likewise the Internet, refrigerators and chicken.

Good point Invictus. Everyone will be supplied with what they need, and what they need will be determined by the state.

How will the State prevent inflation of need?

What will it do when people feel they need more?

The people are taught since childhood to worship the state, and that the state is always right, and the state loves them. Depending on what they want, they might get it, and the state will provide it, at a price.

by state you mean you? just clarifying.

and then the rest of the world will invade/take over Canada...america wouldn't stand for the competition, especially so close to home. your military wouldn't stand a chance against america,(just leave imperialism to the big dogs) let alone, the rest of the world.

even in your egotistical, hypothetical situation,(that I cant believe we, including my self are encouraging by posting here. this is not philosophy) you cant simply make an army magically appear which would be a necessity in your case, because people would resist the transition especially in Canada. you would need the army to quell revolts, and when you did, that's when the rest of the world would invade you.

~America would love to make Alaska part of the contiguous states. Just give them the reason~

really, if this post continues like this, it should be moved to the lounge.

We've established that the OP is a troll, I think.

The thread is boring now - may we agree to let it die?

My children weren't so taught. My children, and every other British person I know, regards Britain as a place to live, not a form of religion. There is no ceremonial morning after morning in British schools in which children vow to their country hand on heart whatever
