I'm just interested in how truthfulness is now completely disregarded. The fact that Kavanagh lied in the hearing is ignored. He gets a pass because he's sponsored by Trump, and Trump has been allowed to lie constantly with impunity for years.

It's a serious dysfunction in a society when it's considered acceptable for judges and presidents to blatantly lie. Trust is gone. It no longer matters, only the utility one has to one side. So, after all the fussing about morality and ethics over millennia, it seems most have decided that might is right after all :(

I have to day this millennium has brought one disappointment after another. I'd hoped the world would have turned out quite differently by now.

Slight exaggeration Greta? Of course if you believe two people represent the entire poplace then fair enough ... just seems like one disappointment after the other (ie. World Poverty halved in this millenium) is getting to you?

The cloud is silver and lining is grey - believe me :)

9/11
Iraq
Syria
Collapse of climate agreements
Rise of authoritarian political strongmen
Science denial
Increased rate of extinctions.

I have found these things disappointing. Sure, there may be silver linings, as is always the case with major entropic events. Soon after the black death subsided societies flourished as never before. Twenty million had to suffer greatly and die to bring about that happy state of affairs, though. None of this is a gentle process.
