I just thought that I would add today's news story in England. The charity Shelter, the main housing charity is beginning a 2 week strike. The strike is over lack of pay rise of Shelter workers, as they are struggling to be able to pay rising rents. This may sum up the housing situation and crisis in the country at the present time.Gertie wrote: ↑December 5th, 2022, 7:17 pm Today's Guardian -

The only time I spent in a tent was on a school trip and I found it difficult. Living in a tent may be a learned experience to some extent. However, conditions of homelessness may be so variable according to where one lives. In London, there are some but not that many who set up tents.Carter Blunt wrote: ↑March 7th, 2023, 10:22 am I lived in a tent for 6 months, it was no problem at all. Just gotta keep everything dry. And stay the hell away from cops, and other homeless people. If you need tips on getting showers, mailing address, camping spots, etc, I got you. Lol. Don't worry about it.
To a large extent, homelessness may often represent the complete marginalisation as homeless people are often cast out of society, and face the harshest conditions of poverty and many challenges. Nevertheless, it may be variable, but the extremes of harsh experiences of many homeless people should not be minimized. A few months ago, I felt under threat of homelessness and I was terrified about survival with the threat of the basic needs of Maslow's hierarchy of needs being not met, as well as so many aspects of potential vulnerability on the streets.

I would welcome any tips on dealing with homelessness. The voluntary work I do brings me into contact with the homeless. How did you manage to get of the streets and find accommodation?Carter Blunt wrote: ↑March 7th, 2023, 10:22 am I lived in a tent for 6 months, it was no problem at all. Peolpe fear to lose phseudo-liberality of being bond to home, house and all it's fake security. And others, mostly rightly, that a homeless seeks to take over a house, if able. But there are less, very less, real gone forth, good householder.JackDaydream wrote: ↑November 28th, 2022, 5:16 pm To what extent is it a practical, social or political problem?

Re: How Real is the Problem of Homelessness?
If they became homeless because of drug addiction or mental illness, my advice is unlikely to help. It would be less about getting off the streets, and more about staying safe and building an infrastructure without a centralized location. In general, I stayed away from people who treated me coldly, and put effort and resources back into those who supported me. I went on food assistance to save money, skydived for personal development, went to a dropzone that allows camping, learned how to pack parachutes next door, got my rigger certification, worked in Hawaii for a month... then came back to the other DZ and worked on jump licenses. What can I say? Once you become a skydiver, it's like a gang. Any dropzone is your territory, and you're in it for life. I just so happen to enjoy packing parachutes.
I've been out of it for a while, currently living on my mom's couch. I had to help her move, and noticed she can't manage her little shih-tzu breeding hobby by herself... so... yeah, just tell them to become skydivers, and if that doesn't work, move in with their mommies.
