What might be the reason for this drastic change? Why children loose the potential that they show initially? Is it because the parents try to guide them? Or is it because of some other reason? Should children be allowed to choose their own path alone? Or should parents intervene into their choices?
Do not blame the parents. Only blame the parents if there were abuse while trying to shape their children into something. The drastic change is simply a whole new world view from the children who are no longer children but now adults. The media, the society, the institutions -- "you must work for the tech company or you'd be miserable for the rest of your career" -- all have an influence on this. Think about the time not too long ago when no "normal" couple would be proud living in a van, a tiny house, a tent, a makeshift commune. Now they're proudly showcasing their adventures in videos as if they're accomplishments.

Not all musically talented people would want to have a career in making music.

The subject of children is a difficult one, because their nature is utterly magical and transcendent.

Basically, children are supernatural, angelic beings of infinite energy and potential who are born into the dystopian purgatory we call the modern world. Over time, they are slowed, dimmed, and bound until they are average humans.

Our world is supposed to mirror the perfect, divine nature of the child -- so when he is born, he belongs, -- but it does not mirror him, not yet anyway.
