If you woke up as an alien in a humanless world, would you still be you?

I think that I would still be me. Even if the world changes, I would still be me in a different world. My insides won't changes only the outside would change.

If I wake up as an alien then I wouldn't realize, especially if the human world was merely a dream. Dreams always fade as time passes and i sould be able to brush away the thoughts of the human world. If I may be honest, I don't think i would miss the human world.

I think that after a while of taking in my new surroundings, and focusing on my memories which I will still have. I will still be me even if it was only a dream that I was human.

The proposition for this forum is quite interesting. If I was to wake up as an alien in a world without humans, I would definitely still be the same person. I feel as though I would have kept my values and skills that I have earned during my human-filled dream period. If I woke up and it was just me left, I would not panic because this is just the way that things go. I would not freak out or try and fight the reality, but try and work with the skills and factors that I have earned during my time spent with other people. It may be weird waking up as an alien and would take some time to get used to, but I would still try and stick to the human identity and form of self that I have previously developed.

Depends: Did I have a personality before going to sleep and dreaming about humans? Or did I start dreaming in a body that had no defined personality? In the first scenario, I may feel a little or more conflicted between my two personalities. If the one before sleeping were stronger, I would treat the dream just as a dream. In the second scenario, if I had no defined personality, then my new self would be greatly affected by the dream.

I would be shocked and awed like if my appearance didn’t reflect what the mirror did in 40 years, but I would still be me - the spiritual me, the CONSCIOUS me.

Before answering this question, I would say we dream things we hope to happen, or we dream recollections that play out in medley replay. But, in the context of dream, you still possess a tiny bit of personal identity. So even if this now was a dream, if I wake up, I would still be me, just in different body, time, and space.

As with the opening question and the atom-by-atom morphing question, if I were to wake up as an alien in a humanless world, I would still be me because I would retain (or regain on waking up) the same consciousness that was making me before I fell asleep and dreamt about being a human. Because if I were to fall asleep and dream about being an alien, and then wake up, I would still be me. So the question is the same - I am an alien who fell asleep and in my dream was a human. As it happens with dreams, I might forget my "having been a human" dream the moment I woke up, or it could still linger in my alien memory. But I would be the same "mental being" as I was before I fell asleep. Makes sense?

I think if you have a broad imagination then it is entirely a possibility. It also gives a stand for wondering if humans are entirely fictional or if they are out there on another planet or universe. I think I would want to find out if humans are real.

You remind me of the movie 'The Matrix', which depicts,

it is not impossible to such a thing to go on right now without our knowledge, and it is quite a terrifying idea.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the movie The Matrix when presented with this question. I mean, Neo and the others may not be physically the same after being awoken from The Matrix. They no longer live in a dream; they do, however, embody the same personality that they had before awakening, so I do indeed think that upon waking in an alien world, you would still in fact be you. At least your consciousness would be, and that is the most important factor, right? Without consciousness, what are we? We are nothing without our ability to think and reason.

Humanity at its core is a concept far removed from biology, it encompasses out thoughts, our feelings, memories and every thing in between. If you still had that I think you’d still be human.

I think my first line of action would be to tour the world again and compare it to the world I once knew. Does everything remain the same? Am I the only alien? It sometimes is shocking and heartbreaking when we discover a lie which destroys our existence. I think I would remain me. My personality and everything about me would remain the same, except there is some sort of rule to adapt to the new space in which I exist on.

If I suddenly woke up, I must have existed as an alien before the dream. As always, the concept of "I" will need a reference point. But if I were to judge, many things would be different. I am not human and will not function by human teaching. But I will inherently remain "me" as a spiritual being.

I think you would still be who you are at your core. Your fundamental moral values would likely not alter, despite the fact that it would go against everything you had ever believed. I think that even if you might need to adjust and change, your mind and soul still reflect who you are.
