I agree we should not take advice from unhappy people because when they are in that state the seem to give more of negative energy and results.

I get it, picking good advice is key. Trust sources that have shown they know their stuff, like choosing a reliable clock. I prefer guidance from those who've proven they can help.

I tend to seek advice from those who have achieved the success and happiness I aspire to. This doesn't mean blindly opposing others' opinions, but rather considering the source of the advice. If someone lacks the inner peace or success I'm striving for, their advice may not be as applicable to my path. I choose to focus on guidance from those who exhibit the qualities and accomplishments I desire to achieve.

I'm happy I came across this particular topic. It is always ironically funny when you see someone who can't achieve something, but trying to mentor me on how to go about it. It's like that old saying about a man whose house is on fire, but prefers chasing about a rat.

Consider diversifying your sources of advice, seeking guidance from those who have demonstrated proficiency in the specific areas you're interested in. Someone skilled in financial matters may not possess the expertise needed to navigate the complexities of personal fulfillment or mental well-being. Therefore, a balanced approach involves consulting a variety of advisors who can provide comprehensive perspectives on various aspects of life.

It's unwise to take advice from unhappy people and also it is wise to take advice from them. It depends on the person. Some unhappy people today have lessons to tell others based on how they lived their lives while some have nothing to offer. So I will say take the reasonable advice and throw the rest.

I don't think I can take advice from unhappy people. Well some unhappy people may have something to offer but on the safe side taking advice from happy people will pay.

This may not apply in all cases. Some unhappy people might give you steps to take to avoid being unhappy. It Would help a lot.

I can't say one shouldn't take advice from an unhappy person I think it depends on the person and the reason. I think even an unhappy person has something to offer it just depends on the person.

I totally agree with you. The advises from unhappy people might probably be non-genuine due to their griefs or something related.

I guess I can take this advice since you consider yourself happy ;)
Anyways, it sounds like very obvious advice but I never really thought about it.

Hager Salem wrote: December 20th, 2022, 6:33 am I believe there could be exceptions. It may be that the unhappy person is aware of what made him unhappy; he just doesn't have the stamina to change it. Such a person can give you advice about what to stay away from if they are genuine.
I had a similar idea in mind to what you've described, perhaps even using as an example someone who unfortunately received poor advice from a doctor. Now, this individual seeks to share their negative experience to help others steer clear of a similar fate. I imagine this person might become embittered or discontented due to their experiences, yet their intention is to assist others.

Unhappiness can sometimes cloud judgment or lead to biased advice. Those who are unhappy may be more likely to offer advice colored by their own negative experiences or emotions. So, it is essential to consider whether the advice being given is coming from a place of genuine concern and wisdom or from personal dissatisfaction.

Think of advice, like choosing ingredients for a recipe. Just because someone seems unhappy doesn't mean their advice is bad. It's like finding a wrinkled apple in a basket; it might still make a great pie! Look past appearances and focus on the value each piece brings to the table. Sometimes, the sour notes of unhappiness can add depth to the symphony of wisdom. So, taste-test the advice, savor the flavors, and decide if it complements your palate of life experiences.

This is a beautifully articulated metaphor; thank you for sharing such an insightful perspective!
