Shirley Labzentis wrote: March 5th, 2025, 6:36 pm With everything that is going on right now with our President, the job cuts, the tariffs, etc., I think that you picked a good business to get into. If people don't have jobs or money to do any socializing, they can always stay home and read. What do you think? Will OBC be affected by any of this government hogwash?
Hi, Shirley Labzentis,

Thank you for your question. :)

OnlineBookClub is an international website, not just in the USA.

Even if the USA and everyone in it magically disappeared with the magical snap of a fingures, OnlineBookClub would still probably do fine, at least assuming I was either spared or was able to select a replacement for me before being disappeared.

Alida Spies wrote: March 10th, 2025, 7:53 am Hi Scott,

You recently posted on social media: "I'm blessed these days....Took a lot of long nights just to get these days." If you don't believe in God, as He is generally defined as an omnipotent, omnipresent, loving, forgiving being, by whom are you blessed? I've never heard the term used by anyone who doesn't worship God, albeit as a member of a religion or not.

Thank you
Kind regards
Alida
Hi, Alida Spies,

I don't recall saying that I don't believe in God.

If I did, I'd assume I'd at least phrase it with the indefinite article "a" and a lowercase g for the word god, such as by saying:

"I don't believe there is a god."

However, I don't recall saying that either.

Saying either the following seems a bit like a contradiction to me:

I don't believe in the God.

I don't believe in God.

It seems like a contradiction because, if one doesn't believe that person/being exists, then who are the referring to with the definite proper noun upper-case G, God?

In any case, if you quote for me verbatim the exact sentences where I explicitly said I don't believe in a god, gods, and/or the specific God to whom you refer specifically with the definite upper-case G version of the word, I can both explain what I meant by that and answer your question that related to it.

Alida Spies wrote: March 10th, 2025, 8:25 am On the OBC site, there are two things I've noticed, regarding this topic. They are:
1. When two editors, after having edited the same review, presented different ratings on certain categories, e.g. number of errors identified in the review, a process is kicked in to resolve the differences. The brief around this states something like "it's no big deal"; I don't remember the exact words. Actually, it is a big deal, because whoever "loses" the argument, is issued with a warning and after a certain number of warnings is banned from performing edits.
I am not very familiar with that aspect of the website, but from your description it does sound like the wording ("no big deal") contradicts the process it describes. Thus, I strongly encourage to you to make an official suggestion at OnlineBookClub to change that (i.e. to remove the "no big deal" text and instead provide proper notice that too many objectively inaccurate scorecards will cause one to no longer be able to score reviews). If you are already have access to the OnlineBookClub Canny, you can post that suggestion directly yourself for vote. Otherwise, you can make it by sending it to your dedicated support specialist, meaning send it in using the official OnlineBookClub contact form.

Alida Spies wrote: March 10th, 2025, 8:25 am 2. The same applies to PRQs.
Then my advice is the same. I strongly advise you to put in a formal suggestion to fix that by using the url=https://onlinebookclub.org/contact/]the official OnlineBookClub contact form[/url].

Any member at OnlineBookClub can submit a suggested change for a vote, and then the programming team implements the suggestions one at a time based on the number of votes.

Alida Spies wrote: March 13th, 2025, 8:24 am Hi Scott,

I know this facility is not meant for OBC support-related questions, but I'm desperate. What is the escalation path for problems not understood by the OBC support team?

Thank you
Alida Spies
Hi, Alida Spies,

If your dedicated support specialist is not providing you great support, simply ask your dedidicated support specialist to escalate the matter to management. Then a manager will join the support chat.

Do make sure to always use the official contact form, which you can find at:

https://OnlineBookClub.org/contact/

Any other contact method will not provide the best support, since your messages won't be automatically sent to your dedicated support specialist and since they won't all be grouped together like they are in the support chat.

Alida Spies wrote: March 13th, 2025, 10:41 am Hi Scott,

Friends of mine live in a housing complex, I think you refer to it as a housing estate in the USA. Their neighbor is very erratic and at times very unpleasant. She lodges complaints for non-existent issues with the Body Corporate, goes from one house to the next spreading lies and teases my friend's dog (and several other petty things as well). When she finds work, she comes and apologizes and everything is OK while she's working. Unfortunately, she also lies about her qualifications and experience and can't keep a job for long. She's in her forties, but she acts like a child. They've had several conversations with her, spoken to her mother and ignored her (unless it's an official complaint that requires an official response). Nothing works. She owns the house, hence she can't be asked to leave. What advice can you give?

Kind regards
Alida Spies

I have just now posted an answer to the above question:

I'm sorry; I don't fully understand the question. Can you re-post your question both (1) with much more elaboration and (2) making sure to thoroughly proofread it to make sure it is extremely clear and in fluent, grammatically correct English?

I have just now posted an answer to your question as worded:

Mentoring Q&A: "What do you (the human we call Eckhart Aurelius) do when you are in situation XYZ?"

However, I do recommend you re-post your question with more clear wording that more accurately and clearly represents what you mean to ask exactly.
