A Humans-Only Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.

This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.

If you have signed up for my mentoring program, it is only required that you read (or listen to) three books in the first 100 day period, and technically they don't have to even be from this specific list.

So it is not required that you read all of the following books, especially not in any specific timeframe, but I do highly recommend that you add them all to your to-read list anyway.

Many of them are available as audiobooks, so you can easily listen to them while laying in bed at night before you fall asleep, or while working our in the gym, or driving. (Tip, for those book currently unavailable in audiobook, there's a good chance I'll be hiring talent to get paid well to record the audiobook version, so that's all the more reason to read it!)

The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid (Fiction Book!)
by Gary Robinson
This is a great choice for those who love fun fiction books. I include it because it's based loosely on real events and the methods used to become a sword swallower (explained in detail in the book) can be used to achieve all sorts of similarly incredible goals and feats. It shows the power of all sorts of values and habits such as perseverance and progressive overload.

For the Indebted Mentee

If you are in debt, then this a must-read for you: Debt Cleanse: How To Settle Your Unaffordable Debts for Pennies on the Dollar (And Not Pay Some At All)
by Jorge P. Newbery

For the Spanish Mentee

If you speak Spanish, then the best book I can recommend to you is Zonas de quema: Cómo jugar las malas manos de la vida by Jorge P. Newbery. I read the English version ("Burn Zones") years ago, and it was one of the most helpful books I have ever read in my life. I definitely don't think I'd be as successful as I am if I hadn't read it. Jorge P. Newbery is one of my role models, and I still follow him closely on social media even now to this day.

What a great list! Thank you for sharing!

I've definitely read two (actually I read both Burn Zones years ago and Zonas de quema more recently; and In It Together, of course. Now, I've got to think of my next one.

Burn Zones was such a fantastic book - Jorge does such a great way of telling his story without feeling sorry for himself. Every struggle, every setback, every point where someone else might say "alright, this is hard, I'm not going to do this anymore" Jorge instead says "this is a burn zone, I just have to get through it and then I can win this race". Seriously inspirational, absolute must-read.

I've heard great things about The Smartest Person in the Room as well and I think I'll tackle that one next!

I've read Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress: A Practical Guide. It's full of amazing methods to relieve stress and anxiety and also to support wellbeing. I am currently reading Relentless. Already loving it.

I already read the Blue Collar Cash by Ken Rusk and I found it very encouraging despite not having an interest in blue collar jobs myself. It just works so well in general for anyone worried about being behind on their career path or unhappy with their work, showing you there is always an option.

I am definitely going to check out more of these!

Thanks so much for the recommendations, I particularly enjoy fiction books, and if they're based on a true story or true facts in general, I just HAVE TO read it! That's why I think I'm instantly going to add The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid to my tbr list! (I'm adding them all to be honest, but that one is going to be the first on the list!)

Can't wait to read them all!

I applaud your taste in books. I've read almost half of all the books listed. I enjoyed all that I read. My favourite book was The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid. It was inspirational and I learned from it.
