A Humans-Only Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.

This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.

Every mentee who joins my free mentoring program is looking for something different.

For example, some mentees just want my advice for reaching their fitness goals, which is often related to reaching a certain goal weight, but sometimes is about something like being able to do X pull-ups or running a mile or kilometer in a certain time. Those are all great goals I can help with.

Other people already own a business, or are otherwise self-employed, or have a business idea of their own, and they want to stick with that and they just want my help or advice with that.

Other people would be interested in starting a business, or being hired as a CEO in a business I start, but they don't currently have a specific business idea or field or industry in mind. This post is primary for those people.

However, this post is also of interest to people who wouldn't want to be a CEO or owner of a business, but would be interested in having an important job in a business with great growth potential, such as being the #2 in the business or being a vice president or just being a high-value employee.

In any case, is a list of businesses or other projects I want to partner with others to get done. If you would be interested in partnering in some way with one of these businesses or projects, let me know. I have multiple options for how we can do that, such as being 50/50 partners and co-owners, or you being 100% owner and me being only your advisor/mentor, or countless other arrangements, or me being 100% owner and you just being an employee or manager. Those are just a few examples. There are many other ways to structure it, and I will defer to your preference and what's best for you and your dreams and goals.

With that said, here is the list of open business projects for which I will be seeking partners/employees/managers/investors/etc.:

Mobile App Development Company -- This will be a company in which we program and launch mobile apps for others. A lot of people (i.e. non-programmers) have a great idea for a new mobile app, but don't have a way to make it happen on there own. So this would be a trusted quality company that to which I can refer those people to hire to build the app for them.

Modern-Age Book Store (USA Only to Start) -- This would basically be a company that competes with Barnes & Noble.

An OnlineBookClub-branded E=Ink ereading Device -- This would be a device that competes with Kindle and Nook. Ideally, I'd like it to be available at a lower cost than either Nook or Kindle, and come pre-installed with offline copies of many free books, including children's books for children of each age and reading level, making it an affordable way to provide free books to schoolchildren all over the world including those who don't have easy or reliable internet access.

Magazine Publishing Company
-- This would go hand-in-hand with re-starting the OnlineBookClub Print Magazine, which I previously discontinued.

(Time-Sensitive) Book Publishing Company -- Contest to select this CEO already announced -- Click here to learn more (Time-Sensitive)

Real Estate Investment Company

Property Management Company

Adult Coloring Book Company

Audiobook Listening App (i.e. an Audible competitor) -- An alternative to Audible that costs less per month and allows unlimited audiobook listening, and allows for watching audiobooks on video (with closed captioning available for those who want captions to read while listening).

Customer Support Bot Company -- Create chatbot, auto-reply email bot, and phone call bots for other companies to replace their human customer support staff/department.

Online Book Store

Swag Shipping Company (USA Only to Start) -- Basically, if a company wants to send out branded gifts (e.g. t-shirts, coffee mugs, free pens, etc.), this company would take care of it for them.

Audio Recording Studio -- For recording podcasts, audiobooks, songs, other music, and more)

Film Studio and Production Company -- Especially for the purpose of turning books into movies

Payroll Company

Death Preparation Company -- A company that helps people with finding life insurance and creating wills, trust funds, medical directives, funeral arrangements.

Independent Privacy-Focused AI/LLM Company -- This ChatGPT competitor to Bard and ChatGPT, so that one can benefit from the incredible power of modern AI technicality without having to sell their data and soul to Google, Microsoft, or Facebook/Meta.
One idea I have for this is to call it CreatorLLM: The Honest AI, with the motto of "Stop using stolen content", since companies like ChatGPT/OpenAI feed pirated books, web-scraped content, and such to their AIs, causing their AIs to effectively simply be tools to do plagiarism without getting caught, essentially the same as the "article-spinners" that were already around 20 years ago.

Book Translation Company -- This could be one large company, or I'd be interested in partnering with separate people for each major language, such as an English <-> Spanish company, an English <-> French company, etc.

OnlinePhilosophyClub.com -- Philosophy Forums and Website -- This already exists, but I would be interested in turning over the project to someone who can take it on full-time to take it to the next level.

Online News Aggregator -- This would be a Google News competitor. Things that would make it unique: True Objective News would be separated from opinion pieces and editorials. When viewing news agregstors like Google News currently, it's impossible to tell which articles are actual news articles that at least purport to follow journalistic standards versus which ones are just opinion pieces.

Luxury Air Travel Club-- Fly first class and private jets for very low prices. Allow private jet charters to sell spare seats, like an Uber but for high-end seats in private jets.

Nomad Hotel Club -- Annual fee, get unlimited stays at participating hotels and cruise lines 365 days per year. No extra fees at all ever; no booking fees, no blackout dates, period.
-- This is designed for the person who wants to sell their home and travel the world, but it can also work for anyone who travels a lot or wants to travel a lot.
-- Some hotels may have minimum stays (e.g. must book in 7-day increments).

A Small Private Fossil-Fuel-Free Town -- All cars/trucks must be self-driving. Roofs all solar or with rooftop gardens. In a place with very low taxes and an ultra low cost-of-living. Good for families who would prefer their kids to not be run over by humans behind the wheel of a car, who for some reason seem to always be going over the speed limit as if the Keanu Reeves on a bus with a bomb
Over 1,000 children die in automobile crashes each year in the USA.

Global Online Peer-to-Peer Payments Processor -- This would be a competitor to services like PayPal and CashApp. One severe limitation of services like CashApp is that it only works in the USA. Even PayPal blocks service to many countries. Likewise, they have limited to not support for cryptocurrency. So my idea is to create a PayPal alternative that is global and supports cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency Creation Company -- This would be a company that for a small fee would create an all new crypto-coin for anyone. This would be a great service for businesses and brands that want their own branded coin. However, it could also have great value to people who just want to the service for fun or a gift, similar to paying to name a star after someone or plant a tree in someone's name. In other words, with no technical skills or time investment a person could easily create their own meme coin for just a small fee. In addition to the small creation fee in USD, we would as part of deal get a few nearly worthless coins of the new currency, which would mean that if even just one of the crypto coins we make ends up taking off and going to the moon, we would end up getting rich from that too.

Website Creation & Design Company -- I can provide a lot of the training for this. So even someone doesn't currently know how to program/code could pick this one, assuming they are tech savvy in general and are a quick learner.

Really, with any of the positions at all, it is going to be required that the person is tech savvy and a self-starter with initiative and a lot of common sense, which despite the name isn't so common.

Event Promotion Company

Event Website for Event Hosts to Manage Invitations and RSVPs -- Alternative to Facebook events, etc., but much more reliable, especially in the sense of invited people actually seeing the invite.

EXPO AND CONVENTION PLANNING COMPANY -- I'm waiting to fully plan and formally schedule my book tour until the audiobook is released, but I also have an idea of turning some of the stops on my book tour into full-blown book expos.

Social Media Management & Advertising Company -- We would help other businesses and brands manage their social media and we would take care of advertising and promoting their business and products on social media for them.

Kids Book Club -- Mailed monthly subscription box that sends progressively more advanced books that develop with the child's reading skills

Kids Math Book Club -- Monthly subscription box that sends math books with separate answer key that again progressively advances with the child. I used a method like this to get my kids several years ahead in math, while barely doing anything except letting them teach themselves math bit by bit each day and checking their work against an answer key.

Forum Software -- This would be a phpBB competitor. The focus would be to make it much more mobile-friendly than phpBB, with 2-factor authentication and similar security built-in by default to keep out bots and verify the humanity of each user.

Last Minute Travel/Flights/Hotel Deals Company -- With it becoming more common for people to work from home on their laptop, it means most people like me can travel on the drop of a hat if desired. In other words, most people like me can now travel the world and go on 'vacations' without actually having to call out of work in advance or such. They can just work while traveling, which is what I do. The airlines and hotel companies are leaving a lot of money on the table by not utilizing their empty seats and rooms. Even if they sent me a message on a Tuesday afternoon saying they have a 1am flight and hotel room at a nice destination available at a big discount, I'd often be glad to to take it, giving them money to just fill an empty seat.

Book Cover Creation Company -- Authors/publisher can hire us to make book covers for them.

Audiobook Creation/Recording Company -- Authors/publishers can hire us to turn their book into an audiobook. To make our books and service unique, I would want the audiobooks to also be available in video with captions. For example, if I am listening to an audiobook while walking on the treadmill, I'd like to have something to look at too. In fact, that's one reason I am more prone to watch lectures than listening to audiobooks, so that I can switch between listening-only to watching-and-listening as much as I want without losing my spot.

Your Own Idea -- All of the above are just ideas I have. If you have your own idea for a business or company and want to partner with me on it, then I would be happy to work with you to bring your idea to life.

OnlineBookClub Clones

Each of these would be easy to do because I already have done everything and have a system works with OnlineBookClub, so I can literally just Copy & Paste most of the code and structure from OnlineBookClub for you, literally saving us both years of work to go from 0 to 100 on one of these.

Music Lovers Social Club -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but for music instead of books.

Poetry Social Club -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but for poetry instead of books.

Christian Book Club -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but specifically for Christian readers and Christian books.

Book Clubs for Other Religions -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but specifically for readers and books of a certain religion (e.g. Judiasm, Islam, Hinduism, etc.).

Audiobook Social Club -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but specifically for audiobooks.

Spanish Book Club -- This would be like OnlineBookClub but specifically for books that are written in Spanish.

Mobile App Reviews & Promotion Company -- This would be a company that offers honest editorial reviews of mobile apps, and (for top-rated apps) offers other advertising and promotion services.

Website Reviews & Promotion Company -- This would be a company that offers honest editorial reviews of website or other online-accessible services/companies/retailers, and (for top-rated websites/businesses) offers other advertising and promotion services.

Books

These are books that I would be listed as "co-author" on. So for each one I need a partner/co-author. I can write the short outline, and the co-author fill out the rest of the content and details, asking me any questions as needed. I don't have time to write any new books, but simply having my name on a book is an easy way to get the book to sell a lot of copies.

Create a Ridiculously Successful Online Business: A-Z Guide Taking You From Scratch To Finish

In It Together: Condensed and Simplified Version -- Basically, I'd love someone to re-write the In It Together in a simpler shorter summary version. The official books is 200 pages, so a version that is roughly about 40 pages would be ideal.

In It Together: Adult Coloring Book -- An adult coloring book inspired by In It Together, preferably with some selected quotes from the book.

In It Together: Spanish Version -- A Spanish translation of In It Together

In It Together: French Version

In It Together: German Version

In It Together: Italian Version

In It Together: Japanese Version

In It Together: Portuguese Version

Time Journal (print-only)

Recently Added

No Tipping Mobile App -- A mobile app (or collection of mobile apps) that acts as a directory of restaurants and businesses that have a no tipping policy. It would offer alternatives to Uber/Lyft and UberEats/Grubhub/etc. for people who support the policy of no tipping. I think there will be a huge demand for this in the USA at least because most Americans are getting extremely fed up with the way tipping has gotten out of control.

World Hunger & Poverty Project -- I created this as a blog and forum 15 years ago, when blogs where the big new thing. I think there's a lot of potential to revamp it and turn it both (1) into a money-maker for the CEO/partner who takes it over and thus (2) scale it and turn it into a huge positive force in the world that helps save the lives of many people, especially children.

Defense and Violence Prevention Project
-- Same idea as above, but different topics, including (1) self-defense, (2) defense of others, and (3) violence prevention. For example, where the goal of the "World Hunger & Poverty" project is to save people who are otherwise dying of starvation, the goal of the Defense and Violence Prevention" project is to saves the lives of people who otherwise be dying of murder. Of course, in both cases the goal isn't just to save people who otherwise be killed by the thing, but also those who would be greatly injured or suffer from it as well. In one case, the thing is unchosen poverty, and in the other case the thing is non-defensive violence (e.g. murder, rape, slavery, etc.).

"Human's Anonymous" Support and Co-Working Groups, online and possibly in-person too. This would be a movement and project based off the following teaching from my book: "All humans are on the addiction spectrum."

Kindle Unlimited Competitor -- This would be like the Netflix of books. It would have all the pros of Kindle Unlimited, without the cons. It would better than Kindle Unlimited in these ways: (1) authors would earn higher royalties per page read, (2) lower cost for readers (i.e. the monthly subscription cost would be lower, (3) authors would not be required to sign an exclusivity deal, meaning many more books would be available via our program than are available on Kindle Unlimited, since the exclusivity clause is a huge turn off to publishers and authors.

Free Social Media Follower Growth Project -- My idea is to run an "Account of the Day" program on each of the major social media websites, in which all participants follow the account of the day, and in exchange get to be account of the day one day as long as they stick with it. So for example if you do the program for 100 days straight (meaning each day you take a few seconds to follow the "account of the day" that day and share the post) then on day 100 you would get to be the "Account of the Day" meaning all the hundreds of other people participating would follow you. Keep in mind, many people struggle to stick with even a small tiny daily habit (e.g. flossing their teeth). So that means that even 1,000+ people participate on any given day, it would likely still be 100 days or less until you make it to the end. In other words, when you get featured as "account of the day" you would get a lot more followers than the number of people you followed. In practice, it wouldn't merely be a follow-for-a-follow program, but rather you would get 10x as many follows as you give. There are several money making opportunities here since we could sell some spots, and more importantly because the account used to make the announcements itself will be gaining followers organically so then it will be increasing in value and can be used to advertise other things for payment.

Monthly Book Subscription Box -- I am thinking we can bulk buy paperback copies of the Book of the Month each month at a huge discount, as well as buy some awesome OnlineBookClub swag (e.g. shirts, hats, mugs, grocery bags, etc.) then mail one of each book along with some free gifts individually to list of subscribers. This could actually be 100+ different businesses, one for each country, to avoid international shipping issues.

Amazon Bulk Book Sales -- Again, this is an opportunity for 10-100+ people since we would likely want a different company for each country to avoid international shipping issues. Basically, this would be where someone could buy 5+ print books as a package a discount, namely for Books of the Month. So for example, we could have a package that is all 12 most recent Books of the Month. For those who want to read most or all of the Books of the Month, this could be a chance for them to save a large amount of money by buying all 12 at once at a huge discount instead of individually buying each one separately.

Overthinking Reduction App (Smartphone and/or Smartwatch) -- A smartphone app and/or smartwatch app that listens to you 24/7 to track how many words you say outloud and reports it to you and lets you set goals and budgets to see your progress, similar to the way my smartwatch automatically tracks how many steps I take per day and how much I exercise, and gives me all sorts of graphs and customizable automatic reminders about it.

Overthinking Reduction App (Desktop/Laptop) -- A smartphone app and/or desktop app that automatically tracks how many words you type into your phone/computer during the day.

Recurring Free-to-Enter Poetry Contest with Prizes -- This could be it's own company or business, but it could also just be something a person manages at OnlineBookClub. Entries would be accepted all the time, 24/7/365. And every so often a winner would be picked from the newest entries. Each winner would get cash prize. Additionally, each set of winners would have their poems published in an anthology book or poetry magazine, and all winners (in addition to their initial cash prize) would also get either a free hardcover copy of the poetry book in which their poem is published or a free copy of the magazine. OnlineBookClub can sponsor the contest to help ensure there is funds available for the cash prizes, and to help cover the costs of producing the book/magazine and giving the free copies to the winners. It's important the winners are given a free copy of the book/magazine so that they don't feel that they are being manipulated into giving us money by being called winners. If they are a winner (and they are), and we are honest (which we are), then all the money and prizes would be going from us to them, not vice versa.

Recurring Free-to-Enter Short Story Contest with Prizes -- This would work the same as above, but be for short stories and novellas instead of poetry. An additional prize could be that the winner gets a book deal to write a full length book.

Recurring Free-to-Enter Music/Song Contest with Prizes -- This would work the same as the poetry contests but be for music and songs.

(The great thing about all three above is not only would the winners get prizes, but it would also act as a great way for them to earn promotion and build a name for themselves. Winning a contest like that could be a way to quickly kickstart or advance their career as a writer, poet, or musician.)

Inflation-Protection Grocery Delivery Business (USA-Focused) -- Allow users to create a recurring grocery delivery at a set guaranteed price for life based on current prices, which are lower than current food delivery prices (Instacart, DoorDash, UberEats, etc.). The lower cost can be obtained via the benefit of having the recurring order. Additionally, we can use the power of collective bargaining to get lower prices from stores and/or wholesalers/manufacturers. I also think this would be a good opportunity for door-to-door sales to get new customers, specially with the focus on marketing being "inflation" and "protection from inflation" and "insurance against inflation". This would also have great health benefits for our customers since people tend to make much healthier choices in advance. People are less likely to thoughtfully sign up for a recurring subscription for giant packs of Oreos and versus low-fat milk and cage-free hormone-free eggs when planning in advance, versus when they see the tempting ads for candy on Instacart or at the checkout lane in the grocery store.

Grocery Stores in-person and/or online that only have food that is free of added sugar, free of added salt, and free of trans fat. Additionally, make it very easy for people to filter out food with other commonly avoided allegedly unhealthy additives or ingredients such as: soy, food coloring, hormones, antibiotics, and unspecified "natural flavors" (e.g. beaver butt secretions). Any animal products that are produced via factory farming (i.e. non-free-range) or animals injected with hormones or antibiotics are also a concern.

Social Reviews -- This would be a social media website where users are thoroughly verified (presumably via you.pw) as real individual humans where they can (1) review any products or services they have used, and (2) see reviews and average ratings of products and services from only real true friends. For example, imagine you could browse Amazon with a special filter that automatically hid any ratings/reviews that aren't from people who you happen to be friends with on Facebook or following on social media or have in your contacts list. However, the issue with that kind of filter would be that most people don't bother to review products they use, at least not specifically on Amazon, so part of the point of this new social reviews network would be for people to review almost every single product or service they use or buy at all, including movies, books, restaurants, banks, toys, cars, websites, and anything they buy from Amazon, Walmart, etc. etc. Then you can also 'follow' people who have similar interests. This way you would see average ratings and recommendations from real people you actually know and can trust instead of seeing average ratings based on thousands that at best are from strangers who may not share your interest and opinions (and who more likely are scammers and bots posting AI generated reviews and/or other fake or dishonest reviews and ratings). Another way to think of this whole idea is as being like Yelp, but where you only see reviews/ratings from people you 'follow' on social media and/or know in real life, and it would be for rating anything you could buy or use (e.g. specific products and services) not just local places.

ScriptAuction -- A website where people who have written a movie script can have their script rated and reviewed by experts and where film producers could bid on buying the exclusive rights to the film. There could be a mechanism for fans to vote on the scripts (e.g. an "I'd watch that!" button, with a counter showing how many people clicked it), so that movie producers could sort by that count and quickly see which scripts already have the most interest from fans. This business would already have a huge customer base since so many authors have script-versions of their book that they would love to sell. This website could also generate revenue by selling script writing services to authors who want their book converted into a script so that it can then become a movie. The website could also have a feature for authors to sell the movie rights to their book without having to first write a script.

Privacy Company -- This could be run a non-profit charity, or as a for-profit company that charges a fee for the service. Either way, it would be an organization that helps people get Google, Meta/Facebook, and other mass-surveilling data-sellers out of their life. For instance, this company would help a person de-google as a service. Again this could be done as a tax-exempt charity, because it's basically just a matter education and public awareness: Simply teaching people the basics of (1) how companies like Google and Facebook actually make money, and (2) the horrors that entails (e.g. Google collecting and selling your browser data when you use Incognito mode, purposely deceiving you into think it is private and then selling that extra juicy data.), and (3) what the other options are, such as simply using Rumble instead of YouTube, and Protonmail instead of Gmail, and Signal or Telegram instead of WhatsApp (or worse, Facebook Messenger), and using GrapheneOS or Lineage instead of Android, and using DuckDuckGo search instead of Google Search.

If you are interested in partnering with me on any of these projects, such as being co-owner in the company we create, or the CEO, or whatever, just post a reply to let me know which one interests you most and specify in your reply how many days into the first 100 day period of my mentoring program you.

Preference will be given to people who have already finished the first 100-day phase of my mentoring program. From there, I will give first dibs based on how far someone is into the 100-day phase.

However, once I have awarded somebody one of these opportunities (i.e. agreed to partner with someone one of the above), then I will remove it from the list above and will not accept new requests for that one. So, in that way, it will mostly be first come, first serve.

Needless to say, if you have not already, you will absolutely want to sign up for my free mentoring program right now.

The longer you wait, the more people will get in line in front of you. ;)

This is a great list, especially for some of us who have no business ideas :-)

For now, I'd like a management position in a Social Media Management & Advertising Company. This will be a great opportunity to sharpen both my management and social media skills so I can later be a CEO of suchlike companies.

Hello Scott,

That is an elaborate list you have there, and I am interested in more than one of those opportunities (in a managerial position); however, my only worry is I don't have expertise in those fields.

So, out of all the ideas, the one that interests me the most is the Online Book store because I see my future self doing well in the book industry. I want to start with a managerial position and with your advice and counsel grow further in the company.

Thank you for this amazing list and very generous offer!

If I had more time, there are several that I would like to be considered for. The Spanish related ones and the In It Together: Condensed and Simplified Version would be amazing.

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to commit more, not sure if the timing is right for me. I might need to wait until my kiddos are in school full-time. Of course by then, things will look a lot different.

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity! Maybe one day I can partake more.

Hi, Scott,

Thank you so much for this comprehensive list of business ideas! All of them sound amazing.

I am a bibliophile and a music lover. Hence, I would be very grateful to get a managerial position in either of the following options:-
- Book Publishing Company
- Audiobook Social Club
- OnlinePhilosophyClub
- Online Poetry Social Club
- Online Music Lovers Social Club

This opportunity could not come at a better time, really.
Again, thank you!
