Help me choose a charity for my birthday fundraiser!
Thus, I want to choose a great charity to help by running a birthday fundraiser.
I know Facebook for one pushes those Birthday Fundraisers hard sometimes.
Regardless, this will be a great way for a charity to raise a ton of funds with possibly no effort on their part.
For the next 72 hours, I will take nominations, and then I will create a poll to vote on the nominations.
Only people who bought my book can nominate and vote.
The charity must be registered as a 501(c)(3) charity in the USA. That doesn't mean it needs to be a USA charity per se, because most global charities are also registered as 501(c)(3)'s in the USA. Even if a non-profits work is specifically one specific non-USA region, they will often be registered as 501(c)(3) in the USA, precisely so that they can more easily collect tax-deductible donations from USA residents and companies.
To make a nomination, simply reply to this post within the next 72 hours with the name of the charity you want to nominate.
If you are having trouble posting your nomination, simply email a copy of your receipt for the purchase of my book to [email protected] so I can upgrade your Philosophy Club account and give you access to post in this forum.

Re: Help me choose a charity for my birthday fundraiser!
This is a lovely idea, and while there are so many charities to choose from, I'd like to nominate Save The Children
https://www.savethechildren.org/
With so much going on in the world, it's the innocents who tend to suffer the most. Save the Children is a global charity that meets all the criteria you outlined, and they do excellent work worldwide, helping children who are doing it tough through no fault of their own.
Here in Thailand, children are being trafficked, sometimes by their own families. 7% of children in this country live in poverty, and last year, Save the Children rescued 140,000 children from harm and lifted 86,000 out of poverty. They have a long way to go and need all the support they can get.
Charitywatch . org rates them at 97%, and their financial documents state that 86c in every dollar raised goes to helping children.
Thanks for the opportunity to nominate.
Stephen
