A music / listening share thread?

These guys were genius, still can't get enough of their back catalog. Also RIP Mark.
People aren't fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, we're fundamentally trying to survive. It's the environment and culture which tells us what that's going to be.

Someone who doesn't already might get what I see in this stuff. Goldie's Live Ensemble with Terri Walker as guest vocalist.

"The band played Waltzing Matilda", sung by June Tabor. This is the most hauntingly heartbreaking song I have ever heard, written by Eric Dolphy.
And as our ship sailed into Circular Quay,
I looked at the place where me legs used to be,
And thanked Christ there was nobody waiting for me,
To grieve, to mourn and to pity.

Yes, I remember listening to The Pogues' version of "The band played Waltzing Matilda" on the end of the "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash" LP. Great song about the Aussies' experiences in Gallipoli in WWI.

I posted "The Story of Isaac" because a conversation in another topic about sacrificing children to God brought it to mind. And I suppose Leonard Cohen vaguely links to the classic Lili Marleen posted by Tegularius, because Leonard Cohen mentions Lili Marleen in "Famous Blue Raincoat"!
