- Mixed Filipino and Southern Chinese martial arts (Inosanto blend mostly - ie. Kali, Arnis, Kuntao, Panantukan, Wing Chun, etc.).
- Producing drum n bass and some dubstep (not all of it's on my SoundCloud, just stuff since late 2008 or so).
- Hermetic Philosophy, Western Esotericism, started with a lot of open curiosity, got more into trimming it down to see what's there and what doesn't get lost in speculation.
- Following GameB and IDW thinkers (particularly interested in Daniel Schmachtenberger, Samo Burja, Jordan Hall, Jaimie Wheal, Rebel Wisdom and Stoa, etc.)
- I bought my self a wood lathe a few years ago (2020), still need to get my tools sharpened and break it out again.
- Trying to get my golf swing up to actual play, might be a while - horrible with drivers but I can do okay with a 5 iron.
- As of this year - cigars, I'm exploring a lot of the maderos (dark wrapper), sometimes flavored / infused (thinking Upsetters here) but not always.
Congrats on the maduros, let me know when you get to Scotch.

I have a friend whose big on dipping the back end of his cigars in scotch. I do like Dewer's but I haven't put the two together, for whatever reason I prefer (drinking - not dipping) IPA / NEPA with my cigars.

I don't care much for cigars, despite being a lifelong smoker of cigarettes, and I really dislike the taste of spirits (except maybe vodka), especially whisky and rum. Sorry for being a peasant! 😉

Ew, was not referring to "dipping". Blendeds are great for cocktails and mixed drinks, but single malts for drinking neat.

I think everyone has their own rituals with this though.

For me I'm sure Dewar's and soda (maybe with a splash of Sprite or Sierra Mist) would be fine, just that for me - right now and smoking after my evening walk by myself (another thing I forgot to mention - both hiking when I can and walking a few miles every evening) I like having something like a Leinenkugel's Juicy Peach or a Reingeist Sunspun (Grapefruit) Shandy. Some people would probably wretch at the idea of cigars with fruit shandys - it's what works best for me right now, and it even works better if I'm having one of my Upsetters ('Original Rude' Buy or 'Zola') where the filler and wrapping already have a tropical infusion.

What it probably is for me, I had to cut coffee out of my diet a year or so ago and so the whole world of French-pressed Peet's and the like is gone along with all the varieties of that. I'm doing some tea drinking instead, actually tried the new MUD/WTR thing and it's okay but a bit expensive for my tastes. I'm thinking cigars are sort of a way that I'm getting something analogous to my strong coffee flavor fix without having to risk getting back in the habit of coffee several times a day, getting back in over my head with acid reflux issues, etc..

Oh I totally appreciate mixed drinks and cocktails (that is they are not inferior to drinking high end spirits neat). Don't let anyone else's opinion on what you enjoy spoil your enjoyment.

Hello Astro Cat!

I have just joined this forum today and I do have quite a few hobbies that I find help me keep a Life Balance.

I love playing music so I am the local church organist and at the other extreme I like to play bass guitar and jam with other musicians when possible.

I enjoy snorkel diving here in Scotland with my diving club, and also have a passion for two wheels, so I enjoy e biking on my Triumph (with pedals) and am a huge Surron dirt e bike enthusiast - I like to combine diving and biking with video production on youtube to encourage others to consider trying these hobbies.

I've always liked delving into languages so I like to try various foreign languages and I also like to mess around with computer languages too. And last of all I enjoy volunteering at my local cat shelter as a photographer to help rehome the cats.

With hobbies I find I've got to practice practice practice!! And the rewards are just so positive for your mind body and spirit!
