Techniques for Posting
I'm new on this discussion forum, but I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how to post replies to discussions, including partial quotes of previous posts, etc. A little bit of help would be much appreciated. I am not exactly a dunce, but techniques for this forum have me baffled! Thanks for some guidance!

Re: Techniques for Posting
To post a partial quote from a previous discussion, copy the part that you want to quote and paste it into your reply, then surround it by the quote tag. That means you place the word "quote" in square brackets in front of it and "/quote" in square brackets after it. I usually use a Windows PC, and I often find it easiest to compose a reply in the Notepad application. If I want to reply to several different parts of a post individually I often type into Notepad:
|quote||/quote|
(where the | means a square bracket. I can't actually type a square bracket here because it will be interpreted as a quote!)
and then copy that several times. Then copy and paste the things that I want to quote between those two tags. So it will look like this:
|quote||/quote|
My reply
|quote||/quote|
My reply
|quote||/quote|
My reply
|quote||/quote|
My reply
If you want to include the name of the person to whom you're replying (if it was me, for example), type this:
|quote=Steve3007|Whatever I've said goes here|/quote|
Obviously in all of the above the | really means open and close square brackets.
Give it a try. Good luck.

Re: Techniques for Posting
Once you've mastered the quote tag you could try other types of tag.
|b|some text|/b| makes "some text" bold.
|i|some text|/i| makes "some text" italic.
etc.
