Illusion of Self Worth
I believe* that uniqueness is just an elusion to give us the feeling of self worth, which would enable us to live, survive, and function till the end comes!
At the end of the day, unlike what the wis man said, human are a result of "God"'s playing dices (In other words, we are very similar to statistical random-effects-model)! As we are but pool of genes and chemical reactions... what makes us who we are is just our experiences and what we have been through in life.
Now a day, one can be cloned, or even genetically modified, we can heavily change due to depression, loss or grief, torture, abuse, etc. What we eat can affect our mood, and how we are in general. So it is just fair to say that we are in fact nothing but the byproduct of chance, circumstances, and experiences. How self can be defined if self can be modified that heavily based on unforeseen circumstances or manipulation in genes?
We are too changeable to even be able to define self! Who we are is in fact how our DNA is arranged, and who we become is our experience and the food we consume. In addition to our moods, that can be reflected by lose or grief or victory, which trigeres chemical reactions in our brain. We are very bias in that regards, and during the time we change so much that the self is not definable!
For me the only truth is what we "human" defined in mathematics! the only world of purity and stability!
Life by itself is overrated , for instance single celled organisms are technically alive, undrestanding on the other hand is more meaningful as consciousness makes more advanced beings have an elusion of self worth!
In fact, how can we worth anything if we can't take pride on anything we do?
One might think, that one can decide to work today or just stay home and drink. However, the question is that, how do one choose that ? in fact how anyone comes to any decision or conclusion in life?
The answer is obvious, we think and based on the result of that we decide what to do! but how do we think?
We use our brain powered by experiences and calculate the consequence of daily drinking compared to working.
Isn't it true that we are lucky to have such ability? For example: It is scientifically proven that a depressed person's thinking-ability is blurred so they can't think straight, so we are in fact lucky not to be depressed! If the circumstances was different and, for the sake of the argument, when we were kids for example we were subject to war and torture, or even kidnapped and constantly abused, etc, which would result in heavy depression! Then we would lose the ability to think straight!
The above argument is just a conversation starter of why that randomness, and circumstances are what made us who we are! which we owe much to so called "luck", and for that there is no pride. There is no self worth or for that purpose even self!
Footnote: I feel very lonely in ,y thought and I strongly wish this forums would help me to find likeminded people to discuss our thoughts!
* My belief is what I think is more likely to be true at this stage of time; as I think we just can come to any conclusion based on our current knowledge; hence, the belief changes as the knowledge advances .

Re: Elusion of Self Worth
Why would not being unique reduce your feeling of self-worth? Given that there are getting on for 8 billion people on this planet, I've always suspected that somewhere there's probably somebody quite similar to me. And if, for the sake of argument, we assumed an infinitely large universe, then there are presumably an infinite number of other people out there who are identical to me in almost every respect except their physical location. That thought doesn't have any effect on my self-worth. Why does it affect yours?HelloWorld798 wrote:I believe* that uniqueness is just an elusion to give us the feeling of self worth, which would enable us to live, survive, and function till the end comes!...

Re: Elusion of Self Worth
There is a thought that what we are in our true essence, in our changeless, unmodified , true self, is one same thing as that which exists in the whole universe. Our different forms and names, not only among humans, but taken as a whole every single individual form and name that exist, are all perishable, made of the same perishable substance, and NOT the Self. This self is what we know of as awareness but we confuse it with our body, sense, mind and brain with which we experience the world. Thus the ego is born, but ego is not the self. We are not our experiences which are unique to each name and form. What we are is pure consciousness, which lights up our awareness of the world. When we die this pure consciousness remains. There is only one single existence. The rest are mere names and forms.HelloWorld798 wrote: ↑June 27th, 2021, 9:35 pm Anyone else agrees that human are so alike that uniqueness is most probably an affect of circumstances and life experiences (I am not ignoring the affect of genes here)?

This is Advaita or non-dualism.
