What Does Your Username Say About Your Philosophical Identity?
So, I am interested in knowing why you chose your particular name and whether there is some story behind its creation.

P.S. My choice of name wasn't as trivial as my words, above, might make it seem. I already had some vague ideas, and the gag acted only as a trigger; it didn't influence the name I chose.

I really like your username as it is distinct and has a good ring to its sound!Pattern-chaser wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2022, 12:52 pm I chose "Pattern-Chaser" as my net-name a long time ago, before TBL created the World Wide Web. At about that time, Alias Smith and Jones featured a gag that involved everyone have a 'true Indian name'. [The way we referred to indigenous Americans at that time was, shamefully, "Indians".] This gag caused certain whimsies of mine to coalesce into a name, the first one that I chose for myself. I liked it, it felt right; so I carried on using it.

Dude. Alias Smith and Jones? You are totally dating yourself.Pattern-chaser wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2022, 12:52 pm I chose "Pattern-Chaser" as my net-name a long time ago, before TBL created the World Wide Web. Nothing philosophical about my handle. Lucky was my nickname in school and I play a Riviera guitar. Lucky Riviera sounded like a 2 bit gambler, so I shortened it to LuckyR.
OTOH my avatar is exactly my philosophical outlook. More details generally change the conclusion.

I just liked the 'feel' of it. And I was young enough that the shamanic search for a spirit guide seemed romantic, and choosing a name like mine was the first step in that. People do stuff for all kinds of crazy reasons.JackDaydream wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2022, 1:42 pm I really like your username as it is distinct and has a good ring to its sound!
Yes, this was back in about 1990 (?), when internet access was starting to arrive. I was manufactured during 1954 and delivered early in 1955.

I like the way it includes maybe, as well as right and wrong.

I am glad that someone else has an interest in shamanic spirit guides. It may be a little different orientated to the logic of philosophy, but, as JeckDaydream my philosophy involves one foot in the realm of fantasy and metaphorical understanding of life.Pattern-chaser wrote: ↑June 23rd, 2022, 9:31 amPattern-chaser wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2022, 12:52 pm I chose "Pattern-Chaser" as my net-name a long time ago, before TBL created the World Wide Web. 1990? That show aired in 1971.

Oops! I meant "Alas, Smith and Jones", whose title (only) was a piss-take of "Alias Smith and Jones". "Alas..." was by comedians Mel Smith and Gryff Rhys Jones.
