Re: Teenage Philosophers?

Post by Mohammad »

Hey, i am moe Assal, 14 years old. I will make it 15 next month. I was in my last 13s when I got into philosophy. Mainly about relegion and metaphysics. I live in Lebanon 🇱🇧. I am Muslim. And we all in our culture respect our religion. There was a math teacher who had a COMPLETELY different personality than other teachers. He was a man who questions everything around him. And I was deeply in love with Math and physics in grade 7 - 12 years old. I went into theoretical physics and quantum mechanics at 13. Then I knew I needed some maths to continue to know more about physics. So I read a book named "algebra & trigonometry - Michael Sullivan". I got a full understanding of maths basics to continue. But after 6 months, I realized that I need calculus. So I read a book that gave me explanations about origins of limits, derivatives and integrals at age of 13. I admit that I don't have a full understanding of integrals though 😅. So I litterarly covered 80 percent of what maths I will learn in the next 4 years - from grade 8 to 11 - in a year and a half, and it was so easy and fun. This is my story with Math and physics till the age of 14. When I met my math teacher, he gave our class some philosophical lectures about life. I didn't mention that I also went through infinity and infinite sums. So I asked a question that I had 9 months ago.
Prequests for the question :
Could infinite things construct something finite?
Yes, a segment of length one is constructed of
millions of points.
My question :
If we had an x-axis. Then we took all the numbers between 0 and 1, and say that they are equal to "n".
So, n=0 + dx +... + 0.00001+ 0.0002 +.... + 0.9 + 1.
Now let's say that the count of numbers in n is p. So p = 1 + 1 + 1 +... = P(n). What is n / p?
My answer :
Taking the first and last number in the series n and dividing them by there count which is 2. So (0 + 1)/2 = 0.5
And ((0 + b) + (1 - b)) /2 for any b is 0.5 . I don't want to continue my full proof, but this gave you a basic understanding.
When I finished, he smiled. Then my classmates who are blown up by our conversation asked him if what I am saying is true. He answered that I am going crazy 😂. I know he got impressed. So I gave a good impression. After 3 months of school. We had many philosophical thoughts that opened my mind to the limits. Then he started talking about religions. And after our on-class conversations and after I got deep into questioning my relegius beliefs and after reading philosophers' opinions, I could easily tell that he is inspired by Spinoza and his book "the ethics". Though he got me depressed about the existence of God.... I was very grateful he was the person who made me interested in philosophy which I think about every day, and I try to philosophies everything I experience, read... Now I am reading "meditations on first philosophy - Rene Discarte". I am still not finding internal fulfillment - which I had before reading about philosophy. And still not finding a reason for living... Etc.
I tried to open some philosophical arguments between my peers, but no one is interested or even care. I went through a breakup 1 week ago. Which is making me reformulate "my" opinion about love. And I need help in that 😣. I forgot to mention that I am a programmer. I started when I was 10 years old with c Lang. And now 14 with python machine learning and unity c sharp. Sorry for my bad English. It's my foreign language.
