What do you mean by bombarded with ads? Do you mean you are seeing popup ads? If so, then most likely it means you have some kind of adware or similar malware on your device.
I see a Nike ad at the top of this page right now.just below the the blue heading Philosophy Discussion Forums.
There are ads on the website. What I don't understand is what you mean by the word "bombarded". If you are being bombarded (e.g. seeing popup ads), then my best guess is you have adware or other malware on your device.
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

This morning the ads were all gone except for the books of the month, which I don't mind. Previously there were ads for other products and services that popped up. I dont quite know why that has stopped.

There are supposed to be ads, including an spot in the header, which are served by Google.

Please explain specifically and in detail what you mean by "bombarded".

There are supposed to be ads. But if you are being "bombarded", whatever that means, then presumably you have adware or other malware on your device.

Scott wrote: March 1st, 2007, 10:11 amI. Understanding These Rules [Added November 23, 2018] If any of the above rules are unclear to you, do not make any posts in the forums at all except to ask for clarification by posting in the Feedback, Support, & Forum Announcements Forum or replying to this topic. Do not post in any other capacity until the rules are clear to you.
Thanks for your clear rules. I have two questions, and the first is about the ownership of threads. As an example, the user SkyBlack created a thread named, "Authority and Freedom." In that thread SkyBlack claimed a strong ownership of the thread. He instructed other users not to post in "his thread," and when he left the thread seemed to die.

On these forums is the Original Poster considered the owner of the thread? Do they control who can and cannot post in the thread? Should replies be primarily directed to them? Do they have a say in which posts are on-topic and which are off-topic in the thread? Are they able to close or delete the thread if they so desire?

My second question is about the longevity of the database. Are old posts and threads pruned out of the database, or will they continue to exist as long as the website exists? I have known some forums which prune the database for the sake of saving space, and others which retain all information indefinitely.

Thanks so much,
Leontiskos

One may only theorize on what it means to be "clear" of the rules rather than "know" or "understand" what it means to be "clear" on the rules because no one has the authority to be "clear" on the rules. And that's what I did back when I signed up and had started posting: I theorized.

My background is computer engineering but my advisor asked me to answer the following question:
View of objectivism and subjectivism in data science

Would you please help me and tell your opinion about it.
Thank you

Hi lala

I expect you'd already know plenty about the nexus between data and its interpretation, so I expect you are after more sophisticated angles. Can you provide more detail? Subjectivism finds its way into data analysis in every step of data policy development so it's a broad question.

Can we ask for a link to where a commenter got their information? Not to put down the comment but like studies and articles so we can learn more?

Honestly, I don't think I'm clear on the rules. Maybe I'm clear enough? Regardless, I've already presented various arguments here in relation to the "clear" stipulation. The administrator and the moderators didn't seem to bother pushing the issue of clarity much further in relation to me. I presume they grasped my views and were on a similar wavelength with grasping my arguments.

So, Scott. Supposedly, by making posts here, I maintain the copyright but you acquire publishing rights, is that right? One of the things that I've been wondering about is why there is a lack of discussion in news media about the things that I've posted (or even discussion about people getting their cases thrown out of court, possibly referencing the thread (1) I made in the philosophy of politics). It appears to me that the thread I generated has not been allowing open debate and discussion, thus this forum has not been "the best" at allowing open debate and discussion. Perhaps there is a hush campaign against the forum? I'm not sure. Regardless, I have been dissatisfied with the lack of open debate and discussion in relation to the thread I've generated. Have you, in any way, been affecting the kind of web traffic that comes to the thread?

Scott Hughes, I am under the impression that you are engaging in a conspiracy to defame me.

20 posts with no feedback does not sound much like a discussion does it? Forget it. A discussion is an exchange of ideas not one person PREACHING to the choir.. have fun.

Im finding it a bit naff that the majority of the posts here are saying I have to buy a book for £24 and read it before I am allowed to discuss any of the topics. The need to buy a book seems to have completely taken over the forum.
