There are ads on the website. What I don't understand is what you mean by the word "bombarded". If you are being bombarded (e.g. seeing popup ads), then my best guess is you have adware or other malware on your device.AmericanKestrel wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 8:48 pmI see a Nike ad at the top of this page right now.just below the the blue heading Philosophy Discussion Forums.Scott wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 7:29 pmWhat do you mean by bombarded with ads? This morning the ads were all gone except for the books of the month, which I don't mind. Previously there were ads for other products and services that popped up. I dont quite know why that has stopped.Scott wrote: ↑May 24th, 2021, 8:51 pmThere are ads on the website. What I don't understand is what you mean by the word "bombarded". There are supposed to be ads, including an spot in the header, which are served by Google.AmericanKestrel wrote: ↑May 25th, 2021, 7:22 amThis morning the ads were all gone except for the books of the month, which I don't mind. Please explain specifically and in detail what you mean by "bombarded".
There are supposed to be ads. But if you are being "bombarded", whatever that means, then presumably you have adware or other malware on your device.

Re: Philosophy Forums Rules [IMPORTANT]
Thanks for your clear rules. I have two questions, and the first is about the ownership of threads. As an example, the user SkyBlack created a thread named, "Authority and Freedom." In that thread SkyBlack claimed a strong ownership of the thread. He instructed other users not to post in "his thread," and when he left the thread seemed to die.Scott wrote: ↑March 1st, 2007, 10:11 amI. Understanding These Rules [Added November 23, 2018] If any of the above rules are unclear to you, do not make any posts in the forums at all except to ask for clarification by posting in the Feedback, Support, & Forum Announcements Forum or replying to this topic. Do not post in any other capacity until the rules are clear to you.
On these forums is the Original Poster considered the owner of the thread? Do they control who can and cannot post in the thread? Should replies be primarily directed to them? Do they have a say in which posts are on-topic and which are off-topic in the thread? Are they able to close or delete the thread if they so desire?
My second question is about the longevity of the database. Are old posts and threads pruned out of the database, or will they continue to exist as long as the website exists? I have known some forums which prune the database for the sake of saving space, and others which retain all information indefinitely.
Thanks so much,
Leontiskos

Thank you

I expect you'd already know plenty about the nexus between data and its interpretation, so I expect you are after more sophisticated angles. Can you provide more detail? Subjectivism finds its way into data analysis in every step of data policy development so it's a broad question.
