A Humans-Only Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.

This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.

Official website announcements are posted in this forum.

If you have questions, suggestions, or need support or help with anything, please email [email protected].

There is no explicit requirement that your post be written in English but this is an English Forum... To reject a post, we need to select a reason and so what would we choose? Bad grammar? Well, if you get that in your rejection notice try and send it again without the foreign language.
Practically, to do a good job, we might need to put your foreign language through a google translate page to see if the translation is reasonable. That takes time and might discourage a volunteer moderator to decide to deal with the post and so it might or might not be delayed.

Hi so if one of the people who understand this account could reply and help me out that would be very appreciated. I am trying to learn about philosophy to be able to converse better with my girlfriend who loves philosophy. I don't quite know where to start. Is there anything important I should start off with?

I do not think the rules can ever be "clear" to me. Currently, my posts are being moderated, so authorities are making judgments on whether or not to allow my posts. However, I consider that the material I would like to discuss may be of a very political nature. To my best level of social agreeability, I argue that I would not be discussing anything illegal. However, I hope that I would not incite a riot; and I do not mean to.

It appears that I am in error to say Agrippa's trilemma. Münchhausen trilemma may be the better term. Regardless, I also consider deconstructionism to be a real thing. I am a fool. I know nothing. I like to think of myself, jokingly, as a proud idiot. Fate provides me with grace in many social situations involving language.

I have often considered that as a philosopher, I have become a sophist, see argumentation as a mode of persuasion rather than truth-seeking under the presumption that the truth cannot be found. My studies of philosophy have led me to such presumption.

It appears the context and situation of my posts to this thread were not addressed. I claimed that I am not "clear" in the rules. The reason is because I cannot make sense of them. I stated philosophical conundrums, such as Münchhausen trilemma, justification theory, and deconstructionism as supporting evidence.

I recognize there are authorities overseeing my posts, at the moment. And fate is so kind to enable me some social agreeability, so that I am able to get along with others.

In that I am not "clear" on the rules, what should I do?

I can help clarify the rules for you or modify the rules to make them clearer.

Which rule is the one that is least clear (i.e. most unclear) to you?

All are equally unclear due to how I lack absolute authority to understand the meaning of any of them. That's Truth, and that might mean you have to discriminate against members who think that way by not letting them participate in this forum. You would be leading an interesting forum if so.

This does not mean that I am interested in making havoc on this website. It means that I am a fool. It might also come with the implication you think I need to take my posting topics elsewhere.

Personally, I am looking for a substitute to what philosophyforums dot com was. I would like to discuss the legal arguments I've presented in a thread here, and I am not too interested in much else.

I do not mind you publishing posts/threads I make here. And as the site means to be be the best it can be and free of personal attacks, I do not think I should worry about persons here using their discretion to harm me with my posts/threads.

I have been relying on the judgment of the authorities here to let my posts continue, despite my take on forum rules.

Fair enough. In this case, if any when any of your posts happen to be against the Forum Rules, and another member reports or a moderator otherwise notices it, the post will be removed and you will sent a notice explaining why. In that way, if it comes up at all, you may be able to get a better understanding of the Forum Rules simply by seeing which posts of yours are marked as violating them and which are allowed. I believe so far all of your posts have been approved, so even though you may not understand the Forum Rules, it appears you are following them by coincidence, which is great. :)

I have just now slightly reworded Rule F to make it more clear.

I changed the following sentence:

"Do not write in all capital letters or overuse capital letters in place of the bold bbcode."

I replaced it with the following:

"Do not write in all capital letters. Do not use capital letters for emphasis because that can imply yelling which is not allowed; instead use the bold or italic features for emphasis."

What do you mean by bombarded with ads? Do you mean you are seeing popup ads? If so, then most likely it means you have some kind of adware or similar malware on your device.
