Discussion; The Fourfold Path to enlightenment

Post by magdalangel » November 3rd, 2018, 4:37 pm

I am reading "The Fourfold Path" a book that promises to lead to enlightenment. It is based on Plato's idea of justice in the soul, and Plato wrote in the Republic that we were on a 'path' to liberation, to be set free from suffering. There are four cognitive stages in the path, imagining, believing, knowing, and understanding. It is an ascension the soul makes in order to attain liberation, and enlightenment. At each stage, you drop the mental delusions, insanity and mental diseases that cause confusion, lies, and suffering, and come to know yourselves deeper using the tools of philosophy, like purification and practicing death. It is a powerful theory that is based on the idea that we all have a spiritual path to walk.

Anybody read the book? Have you heard of the spiritual path metaphor before? Buddha wrote about 'the eightfold path.'?
