I've voted for Stephen Cave's 'Immortality' on the basis of the review in the New Scientist that called it a "must read" and compared it to Jared Diamond (of whom I'm a fan). I think it would be a great one to discuss in the forum.

I will order the S Cave Book. Sounds VERY relevant to my thinking. A thoughtful read. Who can ask for more. ?
This is KAOS, we do not giggle here.

The Grand Design is going to be rough, in the beginning they claim that Philosophy is Dead. Then they create a philosophical system called Model-dependent realism--seems problematic, they've created a dead theory, by their own admission--it's like writing the sentence "Writing is pointless" or "I should not write this sentence". But, I think it should be the pick, because it will stir up a great and juicy debate and much controversy. Also it is important that we as philosophers address the issue of scientific chauvinism, especially if we wish to keep the field alive--which it most certainly is.
