Whatever science was involved in the inception of religionto explain the mysteries of the universe, religion quickly became a tool of hierarchic government postponing corrections to the vicious moralities of the brutal controls imposed on the general populace to a fantasy of a judgmentin the afterlife . Religion throutghout history has been the handmaiden of those in powerand those in power today are vigorously driving the entire planet to some sort of secular version of hell. If a choice must be made between some sort of fantasy scam which is the foundation of religion and just plain acting to solve real problems; I have to stick with the löatter. Keeping people stupid is not in my idea of a sensible solution.

Religions are commonly sorted into god groups and sects , or practical and doctrinal. It's more profitable to arrange religions on a continuum from liberal to fundamentalist. It's fundamentalist moral codes that politicians hijack.

Interesting that Sri Aurobindo predicted almost 100 years ago that mankind will either transcend his base human nature or go extinct (which he considered to be acceptable in a progressive Universe, just another failure in an infinitely long experiment in evolution). Thus the tools of science cannot protect us from our own defects and in fact are only likely to compound them and expedite our demise.

Thus? It's one guy's opinion, not a foregone conclusion.

All current indications of the mass dying of much of the main species of life now current along with the human causes behind alll this destruction of life are now quite apparent as the approaching outcome of total disaster. As a human I can only be disappointed that the vast knowledge and powers of our species have been so peculiarly twisted towards suicide rather than recovery and it will be many millions of years before, if ever, the experiment of intelligent life might have another chance to succeed and improve the planet rather than destroy it. Of coursethe universe doesn't give a damn one way or another and this planet is a minor flake of matter in the entire cosmos but it is a pity that the huge idiocy of the people in control cannot understand what they are doing.

There is a video at https://aeon.co/videos/mind-control-and ... e-crickets which details how a hairworm infects a cricket and controls its mind to seek water which is very unnatural for a cricket and when the cricket drowns the hairworm frees itself to continue its life process to move to another host and proceed to its further life. The ant also has an infection from another type of life that forces it to climb to the top of a stalk of grass to be consumed so that this parasite can continue its life process. It struck me that humanity has been infected by a different type of parasite that causes it to lose its capability to think reasonably and thereby commits suicide with no understanding that it will die as a result of its most peculiar behavior. Humans infected with this insanity are beyond logical reason and through this infection cannot be persuaded to preserve themselves. This infection is financial greed and evidently it is incurable.

The ultimate fear sensibly understood is the end of most life on the planet. The current situation can only be viewed as insane.

Fear is opposed to love. I don't intend this as a prediction but as a way forward.

Fear is a far more potent motivator than love which accomplishes nothing, not in the current context anyways.

There is an awful lot coming to be afraid of and still there is nothing being done,

Love includes courage, curiosity, self discipline, reason and science, happiness, persistence, unfettered imagination, kindness, and creativity. All qualities that serve the biosphere and even humanity at their most productive. Fear is the great inhibitor like a pandemic .

Like real microbial pandemics the fear infection takes a hold of a specific tissue the human cortex.
Also like real microbes, fears protect living hosts until the fears become distorted or overgrown.

Whatever the physiology of fear entails it is far easier to manifest than love which involves very personal and individual components. Although love can be useful sociologically, fear is a basic tool used throughout all government and many social institutions to dominate and direct behavior. The tools to manifest fear are standard and easy to utilize. Especially in government fear generatyed by propaganda against communism, fascism, sexual non conformity, religious dominance, economic controls, etc., are prominent features in all social structures.

How might individuals recognise the fear artifice of politicians ? Or to put it another way, is Trump's Wall iconic?
