Nominate books for me to read next. I promise I will immediately read the book that gets the most votes.

Post by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes »

As you all presumably know, I am the author of In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All.

If you are able to post in this forum, that means you purchased my book, which also means you almost certainly either read my book will read it.

In return, I want you to help determine what book I will read next.

I am limiting it to one nomination per person. I will leave the nominations open for a week from the time of this post. Then I will take all the nominated books, and make a poll in this forum in which you can all vote between the nominations. Then I promise I will fully read the winning book within one month of the poll closing.

I will also make the book the May 2023 Philosophy Book of the Month, so that we can all discuss it together.

If you are an author, you can nominate your own book. If you know an author (e.g. your sibling, friend, or spouse), you can nominate their book. :)

So please reply to this topic with the title and author name of the book you most want me to read next. Only one nomination per person.
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

Women Don't Owe You Pretty by Florence Given. Incredible book and a must-read if you have a woman in your life that you care about, or want to understand the reality of half the world's population.

I think everyone should read this book: On Her Their Lives Depend: Munitions Workers in the Great War by Angela Woollacott. It is about British women who stepped up and worked in the munitions factories during world war I . This war was such that society had to change to help the war efforts. In Britain, working-class women had to go to work in munitions factories as a means of supporting their families, as they had little in the way of income whilst their husbands were away fighting. Were they thanked for their hard work? In general, no, they faced sexism from the employers and the unions and were not included by their middle-class coworkers. This is their story!

I hope you will all help me nominate the incredible book - My Grandmother's Hands by Resmaa Menakem. I would recommend this to anyone looking for healing from generational trauma. It is jam-packed with practical steps to help heal you immediately. Whether it is the trauma flowing through you or the trauma caused by your ancestors; this book will heal and restore.

The Masked Soul by TC Wright is the book I recommend. It is about past-life regressions and many other aspects concerning the subject.

What We Owe the Future by William MacAskill. It paints an overall picture of what the future could be like based on the decisions humans have made in the past and how we can change the course of what happens next. It was based on decades of research and I also like how the author talks about how his views have changed over the course of writing the book. It was great to read alongside In It Together.

One of the books I just finished that is a good book similar to In It Together is 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do by Amy Morin. Also, one of my all time favorite books Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown is wonderful and it'll enhance the meaning of In It Together.
