I'd heard about this supergroup forming a while ago but then didn't hear anything else. Was interested to see how Steve Vai and Danny Carey went in that format. Very good!

This wasn't my city but pretty representative of the show. I haven't watched it the whole way but I remember when I saw them live Danny had a good solo section at the start of Indiscipline.

I can't quite decipher this, can you help me out? It looks like former members of KC playing KC's stuff. Maybe like the Crimson Jazz Trio or the 21st Century Schizoid Band? Are the band called "BEAT"?

Steve Vai has played with them? Epic! I once saw a G3 gig with Fripp, Vai and Satriani. All three of them were amazing, of course, but Fripp and Vai duelling is something to experience!

I haven't listened to Tanita for quite some time. Listening to her voice is like being cuddled by warm smoke. Her lyrics are nicely above wallpaper musak too, if you want to listen, not just be enveloped.

They played stuff from Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair. It's Adrian Belew and Tony Levin in typical positions with Danny Carey (Tool) in for Bill Bruford and Steve Vai in for Robert.

Crimson and Gong are like the ship of Theseus. The band ends up with no original members. Rather than groups of people, these bands have each become a mini-culture - a way of doing things, even if the name changes.

Per Roman and Tatiana Jinjer's apparently like that too. They apparently have no idea why the band is called Jinjer because none of the original members who named it that are there to explain.

One other note on the concert - I was surprised that I actually teared up on Dig It, and it was probably because I got to hear it with the band actually in it and I think what it meant to them started hitting me (kind of a Pink Floyd - Sorrow thing but a different focal point). Also for a while Sheltering Sky's been king of my favorite between these three albums - was really glad to hear that live, but hearing Industry, Sartori in Tangier, etc. with their instrumentals it had a bit of 'Primus meets Prodigy' kind of energy (mainly the way Levin's punching the heck out of those bass strings).

Sheltering Sky actually reminds me a lot of 'Are Friends Elekrik', not the Tubeway Army song but the last track on Plastikman Artifakts, which is probably part of the charm:

Ha, sorry for the delay in replying. I was thinking of The Beatles's Dig It but understood your post. I found that tune too amelodic for my tastes. Love Sheltering Sky and Sartori in Tangier, though.

I've been listening to Gentle Giant recently. This is an amazing performance. The vibes solo is a gem.
