Considering the little we really know about the sciences, there may well exist some 'natural order' of things that propagates the continuance of the entities we call, 'I'. There are some interesting theories about parallel worlds and multi-universes, that could set our meager attempts of understanding the possibility of a Higher Power, back to the stone age.pjkeeley wrote:You have suggested a "what if" scenario. Here's another: what if we discover instead that there is a better explanation for how the universe came to be than the existence of a god?

Bear in mind that these theories are only metaphysical interpretations of quantum mechanics, and holds no real validity as it cannot be tested. The theories are appealing and aesthetical and gives order to an unordered world which science each days try to explain. I don't think we will discover a "god" through a thorough understanding of the mind rather than the need for a god.are some interesting theories about parallel worlds and multi-universes, that could set our meager attempts of understanding the possibility of a Higher Power, back to the stone age.
There is little evidence suggesting that we will ever discover the "ultimate truth", regardless of what kind of idea one might have about it. Perhaps the world just isn't as we intuitively believe it is. Quantum mechanics suggest otherwise - that is for sure. Our search for a completely satisfying scientific metaphysical explanation might be a futile one.
One arrogant argument I hear alot is that if science cannot propose a reasonable provable metaphysical explanation, then this is evidence for that religious explanations are true! There is no reason for that there even is such an explanation, and how on earth can someone claim that the actually know, or believe they know it based on subjective and personal convictions? The lack of such an explanation is not a "failure" of science, it isn't an incomplete belief system as many may have gotten the idea of - quite the opposite! It represent the only logical way to achieve knowledge of the world.

I agree that we can never comprehend the "higher realities" at our current level of consciousness.Without this "missing" higher conscience level there can never be understanding or truth of what "God" really is.
I don't know if god exists or not, but if it does, i would imagine it existing in a "higher reality" than ours.
I believe I've explained my "pyramid" theory already on various other topics, such as "Is there such a thing as a universal NOW?", might wanna check it out because I find this quite relevant.
Ultimately,
I see the human experience as merely a bookmark in a very large (probably infinite) book.
We have a certain "place" in that book that with time we advance through the pages, but still our vision is limited to the page we currently have 'bookmarked".
I only wonder if we are but reflections of higher transcendent entities, and that our bodies only serve as an "anchor" or "place keeper".
But these are merely evening-time musings of mine.

Wisdom = Intelligence + Love
Intelligence is like Hitler. Hitler knew from direct observation that homogeneous populations live in peace. The logical conclusion is eliminate all other ethnicities. The reason he was able to commit attrocities was because technology (railroad cars that could carry thousands of people and gas chambers, for example) was at hand for him.
Techology is without wisdom. Wisom is what is behind it.
