The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.
This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.

I mean, Neo and the others may not be physically the same after being awoken from The Matrix. They no longer live in a dream; they do, however, embody the same personality that they had before awakening, so I do indeed think that upon waking in an alien world, you would still in fact be you. At least your consciousness would be, and that is the most important factor, right? Without consciousness, what are we? We are nothing without our ability to think and reason.Mounce574 wrote: ↑November 15th, 2022, 3:32 pm I think if you have a broad imagination then it is entirely a possibility. It also gives a stand for wondering if humans are entirely fictional or if they are out there on another planet or universe. I think I would want to find out if humans are real. You remind me of the movie 'The Matrix', which depicts,
a dystopian future in which humanity is unknowingly trapped inside the Matrix, a simulated reality that intelligent machines have created to distract humans while using their bodies as an energy source.(Wikipedia)
it is not impossible to such a thing to go on right now without our knowledge, and it is quite a terrifying idea.
