If you are playing a horror movie on a projector, and during the movie you move the projector from one room in your house to another, the horror movie itself also moves.
If you carry the projector around with you, it feels like everywhere you go there's a horror movie playing.
One carrying that projector might say that the whole world is horrific. Or funny. Or lovable. It all depends on what film is being played by the projector.
As a human being, you are the projector.
In other words, you are already carrying a projector around with you, and it's your own body and brain.
You can't escape it. The idea of 'spiritual awakening' is a misnomer. The phrase spiritual lucidity is a more accurate label for the best you can do in terms of seeing reality. You cannot see reality, but you can see the inherent fictionality of everything you do see and of sight itself.
However, despite your limitation in human form, you are still like an AI-powered video game character in a video game who actually has some small limited ability to edit some of the code of the video game, including your own code. You can literally reprogram your mind. For instance, there's tons of amazing undisputed science on the amazing power of mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual practices.
Your body and brain is a projector that keeps playing the same movie wherever you go, but with your willpower you can choose to change the movie.
If your movie is currently a movie in which everywhere you go you find new things to be ungrateful about, you can edit your projector and movie so that it projects a different movie, one in which there's always something to be grateful about.
Whether you live in a horrific hell or beautiful heaven is in your control, and in that way it's always heaven because in a true heaven even the hell-wishers get there wish. And they do.
If the whole world seems like a hell to you, you can reprogram your projector so that the world is revealed to you as the heaven it really is.
All humans are on the addiction spectrum, and the further they are on it the more life is hell for them.
Give more to an ungrateful person, and they just become more ungrateful.
Of course, another word for ungrateful is miserable.
In contrast, the one who is constantly grateful and has consistent free-spirited inner peace is in heaven no matter where they go physically or geographically and no matter what happens externally.
That's why it's called inner peace.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."
I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.
